Guys,

I think I might have thought of an ingenious hack :D

Is it possible to use Google Chrome on Windows and change the User Agent to Mac OS X and Safari?

I don't have a Windows machine so can't check. Would someone be able to check?

Thanks!

Edit: Or, change the User Agent to iPad or iPhone

I don't think that will work. When they first started live streaming events, I remember it being noted that Apple was using their own proprietary streaming format. I don't think your idea would work

What type of commentary?

Well, this is Leo Laporte's tech network. He will be surrounded by his apple pundits and they will discuss what is talked about on the stream. Sometimes lately Leo has been somewhat apple negative, but he used to be all about the iphone. Either way, the people with him will probably be pro apple.

Here is the link to tomorrow's coverage with the people who will be attending.

Thank you. I will check it out.

It seems strange that Apple would cut out a major market segment of users from live streaming, especially those who are considering their first iDevice.

Viewing Live Stream via Windows

Hi All,

Regretfully, I do not have a Mac. :( I do have Safari for Windows installed on my PC. Would anyone be able to tell me if I should be able to view the live stream tomorrow via this method?

Thanks!

Someone in the "spoiler free thread" was saying to download quicktime to be able to view the live stream on Windows.

Watching the live presentation on a Pc

What programs do I need to watch it live on windows? Safari? Quick time?

Unfortunately I don't think a Windows PC is capable of decoding and handling the advanced technologies Apple uses to stream its events.

"Advanced technologies"? sure, never mind, thank you all for the answers I found a way to watch it with vlc

Apart from journalists and tech bloggers, only hardcore enthusiasts will be watching it live.

Everyone else will just read about it on the news, the Apple site & tech sites.

Edit:

Ok, these are the requirements:

Live streaming video requires Safari 5.1.10 or later on OS X v10.6.8 or later; Safari on iOS 6.0 or later. Streaming via Apple TV requires second- or third-generation Apple TV with software 6.2 or later.

Apple uses it own technology for live streaming events. And this technology is only officially supported on Apple's own platforms. I'm not sure how good the experience will be in VLC, but obviously you have nothing to lose by at least trying.

Here's how you do it. I saw it on Reddit the other day and was able to take a screenshot. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1410258779.559297.jpg
