Watching Videos Full Screen on the iPhone X ?

Not really because when you go full screen you are zoomed in so it tends to crop off parts of whatever you are watching. In non full screen you can’t see the notch as it disappears into the black bars around the video.

admittedly I was one of the biggest critics of this design choice and I said that it would only bother me when watching a video.... But I've found that you forget its there after a while and it becomes a non-issue... watching video on the full edge to edge screen is awesome. I can't describe it but if feels like holding just the video in your hand, if that makes any sense lol.
Doesn't bother me at all. I like how the entire front of the phone is the video. Looks better to me.

BTW the sound is really good (for a phone) and loud on the X.

Seemingly the notch on a tech forum seems to be a bigger issue than it is in the real world. From those I know who have the iPhone X, Have not even commented on the notch or even made it an issue in the slightest for Videos or any other type of Viewing media.
When watching a movie in an aspect ratio of common theatrical films, i.e., 2.35:1 (or greater), the X even with it's very wide ratio (2.17:1) can't go edge to edge it would trim the top/bottom of the content, so scaling it back to adjust for that, the video actually doesn't overlap the notch.
When it does ... no biggie.

So after all the badmouthing of the X, you still bought one? I don't get it.
The sound was the biggest surprise to me. Quite happy with that, and the notch is not really something I notice negatively.

As for me, I don't notice the notch at all and haven't from the start, but I realize for some it is something they will never get past
How sore that thumb is depends on the person. Yes its there, but it does not bother me. You cant just call people liars lol.

So my answer is yes it’s annoying. I’ve just accepted that the video viewing experience on the x is “smaller” than the plus phones and don’t go full screen.

Until these new aspect ratios get adopted more, 16 X 9 will continue to be better for most content. Movies fit much better though.
I wouldn’t say they’re lying but I know a notch on the side of their flat screen TVs would annoy them. Or they’d buy a version of the tv without a notch on the side.

It would still have a notch. Until all other media I view has a notch it won’t be better.
No way aspect ratios for TV and movies will change to 19.5:9 (iphone x). 16x9 will always be the standard.
I'm not sure what you mean by "movies", but [theatrical release] films are almost never 16x9.
We will see, Movies are already in a similar aspect ratio. But yes 16 x 9 still dominates.
Depends on the movie aspect ratio so its either 1.85:1 and 2:39:1. 16x9 which is 1.77:1 and very close to 1:85:1 with a tiny black bars on top and bottom.
