watchOS 10 will be the Apple Watch's biggest software update since the initial version of the operating system was released in 2015, according to Bloomberg's Mark Gurman. Apple is expected to announce watchOS 10 alongside iOS 17, macOS 14, and other new software during its annual WWDC keynote on June 5.

In his newsletter today, Gurman said watchOS 10 will be a "major" update with "bigger enhancements," including an "updated interface." He did not provide any additional details, so exact new features and changes remain to be seen.

Gurman said minimal hardware changes are planned for the next Apple Watch models, so watchOS 10 will apparently be a major focus this year.

The first watchOS 10 beta should be made available to Apple Developer Program members very shortly after the WWDC keynote, while the first public beta will likely be released in July for those enrolled in Apple's free Beta Software Program.

I just hope they implement more actionable insights on health, sleep, and exercise, something akin to Garmin, Oura, and Whoop. I feel like all the data the watch collects goes to waste, plus the move rings from the original Apple Watch feel outdated / rudimentary and ready for an overhaul.

I just hope it will still support my series 4 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Of course! It is time to slow down watches with only 1 GB of RAM 😃

Jokes (?) aside, it would be a weird marketing move not support Series 4, considering it has the same performance of Series 5 and SE1 (and I don’t think Apple plans to drop support for all of them).

I would love it if the watch would get a bit more dynamic outside of the Siri watch face and generally supported more watch faces. The existing ones are fine, but I've never quite found what I wanted.

Complications in general seem weirdly tied to specific watch faces and I've never understood why some will, for example, enable me to put the weather there while others only allow an app shortcut.

I would love an app drawer and more importantly then the ability to only leave the apps I regularly use on the main screen.

I'm very new to Apple Watch. It's a very polarizing product for me. The things I like, I really like. And the rest is very underwhelming. For me the biggest improvements would actually be the basics: Activity tracking. It has not at worked well for me (such as steps or accurately, knowing when I've stood, flights of stairs, etc). It's been so bad, I don't even have activity tracking as a complication and don't even look at it anymore. It's the newer features such as making phone calls, EKG, and even oxygen saturation (has been more accurate than I would have thought) that I've liked. But my Fitbit was better with the very basic stuff. I would like a feature to continuosly measure my pulse even at the cost of shortened battery life, or if not that, to measure my pulse once I stand. I have POTS so when I stand, even on my medicine, my pulse often goes from 50 to 110 and stays 110 until I sit again. The Apple Watch almost never catches that which the Fitbit did due to constant pulse monitoring. I like to keep tabs on that. The problem is the Apple Watch doesn't even seem to know when I stand. I can be standing for 20 minutes (long time with my condition of POTS), and the second I sit down it tells me to stand up!

I mean how much more functionally is needed? Other than casual message replies, and using it to control Apple Music, I don't really use it in the way the want / expect you to.

How about including a macOS Health.app?

They really need to improve smart replies for text messages. All you get are extremely basic canned replies (“yes“, ”no”, “can‘t talk right now”) that are always the same and not even context sensitive. Google, Microsoft and other have all had very good predictive text in emails and other apps for years now. Surely Apple can offer a better automated way to respond to texts from the wrist. It’s been really odd to me that they haven’t addressed this after 9 versions of watch OS, while it was something they advertised with the first Apple Watch. Hopefully OS 10 will be the one.
