What will happen when you swipe up for WatchOS 10? Hopefully you can access widgets this way and use the crown turn for other things, like a volume control that actually works all the time like it used to & doesn't currently with WatchOS 9?

Apple DID NOT make it easier to access control center.
Pressing that side button sucks.
Control Center needs to be brought back as swipe up.
Because right now theres 2 ways to access stupid widgets. Swipe up & crown.
The ideal solution :
Crown turn = widgets
Swipe up = CC
Button press = apps

can we get some cool looking watch faces... like nice high quality digital ones with slick looking fonts... I can't believe its been this long with the same old crap
Casio could probably make more money licensing their classic digital watch face to Apple than they do selling actual watches.

This smells like an Apple Watch redesign to accommodate the new UX.

On the contrary. This is the first watchOS UI that thoroughly accommodates the Apple Watch hardware controls.

The Digital Crown is finally fully embraced as a vertical scroll mechanism and the entire UI is designed around that.

Previous versions going back to watchOS 1.0 had all sorts of lateral scrolls when the Digital Crown always felt built for vertical scrolling.

From what I can see, this is the first watchOS that can be navigated entirely with hardware buttons instead of gestures on the screen. The screen serves only as a single button for tapping items. You’re welcome to swipe around the screen but the Digital Crown and the side button will get you anywhere.

Why would you want to fiddle with the crown & side button? Swiping the screen is easier. I don’t get it.

It's great that Apple are making changes that move things forward but with an Apple Watch being such a personal device that is small and has relatively few ways to interact with it I really, really wish that Apple would offer even the simplest of customisation options so that different people could get the most out of their watch.

For instance I hardly ever use the control centre so now the single press on the side button is an interface action that for me is essentially wasted. On the once-a-month occasions when I need the control centre I'm happy to get to it via an icon in the launcher whereas for something like launching the workout app that I use 3 or 4 times every day (I track outdoor walks as well as gym workouts) putting that on the side button would be way more useful for me.

It really should not be a big effort for Apple to offer customisation of that side button, they already support customisation of the Action button on the Ultra, so why oh why can't they offer that flexibility for the side button on the regular watch?

I wasn’t a fan of the new way to access control center, but after a couple of days, I feel Apple made the right choice. I access the new widgets panel way more than control center.

Never been a fan of the cartoon animation watch faces, but I’m really liking the Snoopy watch face.

Dan! Just use Siri to find and launch your apps!! You and Hartley on your podcasts complaining about scrolling to find your apps on the watch. OMG Just say Hey Siri open App such and such. So easy. I never search for apps or a work out. Just ask Siri to start a walk. Done work out started. Why doesn’t anyone know this or let you guys know so you can pass on this simple detail so people aren’t fumbling around trying to swipe on a postage sized screen.

Huh? I want to easily be able to toggle AOD on and off (while not on low power mode).
You can create a shortcut to toggle AOD on and off, then place that shortcut as a complication on a watch face. You can also place the shortcut on your iPhone Home Screen, and toggle it from there.

To me, it seems like Apple may be struggling to keep people interested in the watch.

Sales numbers say you‘re wrong.

At this point, many of the large developers have backed out of supporting it.

It just has become clear(er) which applications make sense on a tiny screen on your wrist - and which don‘t.

Due to the relatively low cost, the majority of people who want one already have one,

Again, sales numbers don‘t agree with this take.

and there isn't much more they can do to add to it

With every health sensor added, the Watch will get more inevitable. This gadget regularly saves lives. Wait until they manage to get blood pressure and blood glucose sensors into the Watch … It‘ll take a few more years but will take the Watch to a whole new level of being indispensible for millions upon millions of people.

Additionally, a lot of people I've talked to at work have been turned-off to it, due to the fact that it seems marketed mostly towards health and fitness. Obviously, this isn't a bad thing, but this doesn't appeal to everyone.

The Watch is many different things to many different people. It‘s still very useful if you don‘t care about the health and fitness features. Most people do, though.

Because nobody cares about this product

Yeah, Apple is #1 in the world wide watch market - not just smart watches, but all watches - because „nobody cares about this product“ … 🙄

was happy when someone posted on here that you can still access the dock by double clicking on the crown. i am not seeing that as a positive move.

basically :
seeing control panel is slightly (not much) harder to get, as swiping up was quicker.
dock is harder to get, as a double click of crown is harder than single click of the other button.
swiping up has now been allocated to bringing up widgets, which duplicates pressing the crown. why have two ways of getting that, which pushes two other actions so slightly less friendly ways.

the dock doesnt look as good though, bit more cluttered than the old dock, and they've taken away the customisation of it, or i cant find the settings maybe. i used to like having the dock set to favourite apps, and then i had the 3 or 4 apps i use most at the top of it.

do like the widgets, think most apps will have one eventually, and i guess that will fix my dock issue. also means you can have faces without complications and get to them quick. which im glad about as i dont like the new change where you cant just swipe to get another watch face. i am sure i wasnt the only person who had a few similar faces in a row with different complications on each.
