To me, it seems like Apple may be struggling to keep people interested in the watch. At this point, many of the large developers have backed out of supporting it. Due to the relatively low cost, the majority of people who want one already have one, and there isn't much more they can do to add to it (because, lets face it, it's a watch haha).

Additionally, a lot of people I've talked to at work have been turned-off to it, due to the fact that it seems marketed mostly towards health and fitness. Obviously, this isn't a bad thing, but this doesn't appeal to everyone. My wife has one, but I do not.
The fitness stuff is my least used element of the Apple Watch.. I don't need to be told to stand or breathe periodically.. Other than looking at the time of day, my most used feature is Apple Wallet access to use at pay terminals. Much easier and more convenient than fumbling around for the iPhone..

This. I would buy an Apple Watch if all it did was pay for things.

I would buy an Apple Watch if all it did was ran Hole19 to record my golf scores and give me distances.

After those two comes just the novelty of having lots of faces. And being able to see texts without taking my phone out. And getting a discrete flash up of football scores when out in company.

Why why why a Snoopy watch face?
You don't HAVE to download any face you're not interested in. I currently have 28 faces available (including Mickey and Minnie Mouse).. I scroll between them out of boredom sometimes. Others are just endlessly fascinating, like the astronomy faces, Earth, Moon and solar system, which are interactive. Also the sundial face which displays the day as a sine wave.

<snip>I dont like the new change where you cant just swipe to get another watch face. i am sure i wasnt the only person who had a few similar faces in a row with different complications on each.
Seriously? You're not going to be able to simply swipe between faces with the next update? What's the process for accessing alternate faces with the update?

I heard you long press a watch face, then swipe sideways.

This is so bad, I'm considering not updating to Watch OS 10.

You double press either the crown or side button.

Can’t remember which one.
It's the digital crown button - double clicking the side button will remain the shortcut to the Wallet. I have only recently discovered that double-clicking the digital crown will open the last app used and have been finding it useful, but don't think I'm worried that it will be removed (and I don't imagine most people knew the function existed).

I don't think it's that onerous to adapt to an extra step - I really wonder how many people are changing their watch face often enough for that to be an issue.

I change my watch face multiple times an hour. I have 3-4 faces I use often, each with complications I want to get to depending on what data or functions I want to use. I have a "weather" face, an "activity" face, a "time zone" face, etc. Being able to rapidly switch among these faces is key to how I use the watch.

Will the Smart Stack remove some of that need?

Not sure. Depends on what data can be seen at a glance. My "activity" face shows my activity rings and step count in one view. My "weather" face shows temperature, weather condition, air quality, precipitation, and sunset/sunrise in one glance. Can you do that with Smart Stack?

Of course!

I forgot about the Wallet shortcut.

Thanks for responding.

You can create a shortcut to toggle AOD on and off, then place that shortcut as a complication on a watch face. You can also place the shortcut on your iPhone Home Screen, and toggle it from there.
I appreciate the ideas, but I don't want to waste complications on it (have others I prefer) nor have to take out my phone. Samsung watches (overall far inferior) had it in their control center equivalent and it made a lot more sense to put it there IMO rather than bury it under settings or having to create cumbersome workarounds.

I hope that does not come true. Similar to Night Spring, I have three different watch faces (all with different complications) that I like to swap between depending on what I am doing. I think the new stacks might soften some of the blow, but don't think it will fully operate in the way I like it.

Agree that having the toggle in the control center will be ideal. Another thing that might make sense to put in control center is raise to turn display on. I can imagine some people might want to quickly turn that on or off, depending on what they are doing.

If I want to do that, I put it in theater mode.
