quick question to the beta testing users here:

I have seen pictures of the weather condition complication showing the condition and the actual temperature as well (in one complication)

also, in the siri watch face, the date complication shows the month as well

can anyone confirm this?
have there been other „updates“ made to existing complications?

thank you
Neve rmind.

I have a series 2. So I’m wondering how much battery I will save by toggling off WiFi in general? If I’m just chilling at home (where I have WiFi) is there a benefit to turning it off? The watch prefers to be connected via Bluetooth to the iPhone to save the most power and only uses WiFi when it gets out of range of the iPhone from what i understand.

Oh and how much will I save on running? I’ve always wanted to turn it off when going for runs which I run very frequently. Wonder if it would or could have an effect on the gps accuracy at least at the start of the runs?

I think the WIFI/Bluetooth are quite efficient that turning them off really doesn't make much difference.

I still no people who turn off Bluetooth on their phones, even though it hardly uses any power. Go back to a Sony W800i from over 10 years ago. Bluetooth on would drain it.

Can anyone describe how the Podcasts app works. I've seen very few articles and videos describing functionality.

Can you preload episodes? Stream? Both?

New somewhat major feature:

The Apple TV is now supported inside the Now Playing app. It can also appear inside the Siri watch face.

Awesome!!!

There are new little indicators at the top-middle of the screen on active apps such as currently playing, active call or active workout.

Fantastic, thanks for sharing.

My Apple Watch ate up some data last night.

And tonight my watch battery was dead by 7:30., even after chewing threw the battery while in reserve. Time for a full reset to knock out whatever is burning through the battery...

You have to set up your favorite teams in the TV app.

Sweet! Love thes details.

Can anyone confirm when Apple TV is playing it pops up the now playing on the Watch?

What can you control? What does it look like on the watch?

Does Siri watchface have an Apple TV platter? Does it have an Apple TV remote platter?

I got walkie talkie back. It requires you have the redundant FaceTime app installed on your phone. It still won’t function because of the contact bug but it is back.

Inspired by "All the little things" threads that MacRumors has on different products and software
releases, I figured the WatchOS 5 deserves one too.

The Apple Watch has plenty of things that are not heavily featured in Apple's blog posts or articles, this thread will highlight those things for you!

watchOS 5 requires iPhone 5s or later with iOS 12 or later, and an Apple Watch Series 1, 2 or 3. watchOS 5 is not compatible with the first-generation Apple Watch.

Headlining features
  • Enhancements to Workout app, such as Hiking mode, Yoga and automatic workout detection with retroactive credit and End prompts!
  • Walkie-Talkie.
  • Invoke without saying Hey Siri when you raise your wrist.
  • Siri watch face support for Siri Shortcuts and third-parties.
  • Limited web content rendering for emails and links in Messages.
  • Podcasts app.
  • Background audio API for third party apps.
…And what we're here for:

Little Things
  • Siri watch face cards can be turned grey.
  • Control center items can be rearranged.
  • New subtle animation when entering control center or notifications.
  • Mail shows when it was last updated at the top of the inbox.
  • The rings in the activity app are outlined with black along the edges
  • Astronomy and Solar watch faces have been simplified and now support complications
  • You can now access Control Center and Notifications from within apps as well by touching and holding at the top or bottom of the screen, then swiping
  • WiFi supports WPA2 Enterprise.
  • Connect to WiFi networks from Watch.
  • The Timer app now has "Recents" to allow you to start a timer for the same duration you used previously
  • Activity exercise ring is now filled when doing more intensive exercise.

Anyone having trouble getting their mail notifications on Watch OS 5? I can’t seem to get any notifications of my iCloud email and I have tried several different notification options.

So in comparison to the iOS 12 beta, is watchOS 5 overall better, worse or the same in terms of performance?

If anyone is experiencing contact sync issues in this version, a workaround is to unpair your watch from your iPhone, downgrade your phone to iOS 12 Beta 2 using iTunes (Pretty easy to find an IPSW online and doesn't delete any data off your phone), then re-pair your Watch to your phone and finally update your phone back to iOS 12 beta 3. The contact sync issue seems to be a problem with iOS 12 beta 3, not watchOS, so downgrading your phone lets them sync.
