I’ve got Watch OS7 on my AW5 and force touch still works to change the watch face
The removal of Force Touch is a part of WatchOS 7 not the watch. If you upgrade any of your Apple Watches to WatchOS 7 you'll loose force touch. They really made me not want to buy this model. And I’m in the market for a new Apple watch...
- no force touch
- no major upgrades
- no redesign (same style as previous 2 cycles)
- no pure black stainless steel (?!!??)
Seriously Apple what is wrong with you guys.
Complacency I think.
I can't believe people seem OK with Apple disabling a hardware feature just to level the playing field with their new models?
They removed it for the environment (aka save money).Force Touch / 3D Touch was one of the cooler subtle features Apple introduced that made devices more enjoyable to use, and it was unique to Apple devices. I wonder why Apple felt the need to get rid of it? I still miss it when using my phone; tapping and holding just doesn't feel as cool and interactive as pushing harder.
No you don't...it a long press. Try barely touching the screen and see what it does.I’ve got Watch OS7 on my AW5 and force touch still works to change the watch face
All you have to do is let the user choose. They paid for Force Touch...and you have the decency to let those who paid for it use it. There are so many ways to do both. Apple deserves a class action lawsuit for disabling a hardware feature they promoted Without warning to the user. Its so easy to accommodate both and let the user choose. It's important to think about what the majority of consumers want, not just the enthusiasts like us that frequent forums and make a point to try every new feature offered.
Really I think force/3D touch was Ive's attempt to pack more interaction options into the iOS UI without resorting to "right click" menus like on a Mac or PC. But what we see now in iPadOS is that they've brought in pop up menus, making it more PC/Mac like. That is really what they needed to do all long to make it possible for people to replace a laptop with an iPad.
That’s like demanding refund because they did not tell you the 2020 iMac does not include an scuzzy port and a floppy drive. LOLThis that didn’t use it, did you never clear notifications or switch calendar view? This is a bloody stupid removal in this form factor.
There’s no reason previous models could not support both a long press and the new options.
