Question:
I create a training (running) and I want to run for example 30 minutes. And after 15 minutes I want to return to where I came from. Is it possible to create a alert after 15 minutes?

Just use the time based run and put in total time 30 mins. For this and fixed distance run it will let you know when you are half way

So what are some running features you’d like to see in watchOS 10?

- turn by turn routing on maps (like Footpath does)
- nested interval workouts
- not exactly watchOS but iPhone as a companion to create interval workouts
- minor thing: on interval summary page show the pace for the last interval

Great points ! Would love the intervals to be created on the phone - I change them every week at the moment after a program from my coach

So maybe a synchronization from a training plan platform like TrainingPeaks would be even greater for you, I guess. But to be realistic: Apple will likely not implement something like that.

Just editing them from my phone would be fine. Actually like preparing next days big sessions, but a bit easier on the phone

As I am eagerly waiting for the release of the AW Ultra 2 :p, out of interest one question to the Ultra owners:

what functionality does the action button offer for runners? Did some Google search and did not find anything apart from: starting the training app and starting the training.
Found some references that there are "additional functionalities by pressing action and side button" but not which.

Would be great if you could provide some info, what the action button (and combinations with side button) does.
Thanks!

I use it quite a lot. I set up custom workouts for primarily two days a week (the long run with tempo parts and the interval mid-week). All other days I just start open run. I have set my Action Button to start open run. It automatically starts and start searching for GPS signal and locks on (this should have been a feature years ago instead of the 3-2-1 countdown!!)- another press will start the run. This time a year I have often water-locked the screen if my long sleeve jacket/shirt is outside over the watch. I press the button while putting on shoes (for locking on heart rate before the run) and when outside I can start the run without taking the sleeve away and unlocking the screen - Pretty damn great.

Also pausing with action + side button is a bit easier when finished.

Also - even if starting the custom workouts will make it search for GPS signal and wait for the Action-button press

Thanks! During the runs, does the Action button (without side button combined) does have a function?

Yes it will mark segments/laps which can be quite useful for quick split the run - but as far as I know it's not customizable during the runs

Great thanks.

So in custom workouts, does it also progress to the next interval? E.g. when you are doing an open warmup, can one start the first interval with the action button? Would be a great use case for me as I often (like you do) water lock my AW right after the start and then I have to unlock it again after warmup, double tap and lock again. Not really good when the AW is already wet.

Workout suggestions would be great for WatchOS10

Interesting.

Also, more integration with Apple Fitness+ would also be cool. But as it now is, I have not much hope. Since release of it there was almost no development.

Haven't really tried that to be honest - My custom workouts have always had specific warm up segments for like 2-4K and it counts down and vibrates when going from workout to training and cool down is open

Apple Expands Running Track Mode to France, Spain, and Netherlands:

It’s so cool to see the continued rollout of this. I really hope we have more countries on board soon (Denmark let’s go!)

I keep me fingers pressed. Guess they will roll out to the Nordics in one go. Hopefully soon!

Questions for you fellow runners who also use AirTags.

Since watchOS 9.4 (at least that is what I guess from the timeframe), I almost always get "Find my" alerts on my Apple Watch for AirTags that are either with me or left at home (which is marked as desired/safe place for AirTags). Getting these alerts about 5mins into my run, about 1km from home.

Did not have these alerts in the past.

Anyone else having this problem?

Yes, I find they arrive very late, at around 1KM into a run, and also the volume is super low and I can barely hear what Siri is saying

That was a burning hot one - but came through and a new PR with 2:30 - not the race I planned or dreamed about, but that's how it is sometimes - on to the next one
Great! Congrats for your new PR! Well done!

Congrats to the PR - though you made me curious, was it a 2:30 marathon?? 😮 Because that sounds like an absolute dream! 👍 (Even if you meant 3:30 - that’s pretty amazing!)

+ sharing two tricks that I find super helpful when combined the pacer feature:
  • I set the distance a tiny bit (1-2%) longer, especially if the route isn’t a straight line from start to finish, to avoid missing the desired finishing time
  • get a voice notification at each 100 m split (rather than the default each 1 km), that helps greatly to keep a steady pace… if you can tolerate being bugged that often 😃
