i don't think it is fair, Apple products last longer then most other products and Apple is working hard to support software upgrades to older devices in general.
Apple does somethings that i don't like (repairability/upgradability) but not supporting products and forced upgrades in not one of them. We have to give them credit where it is due.
So what’s your explanation for this feature being excluded from series 5? It has the exact same cpu and screen if series 6, what’s the reason for it not to be included? It’s clearly a case of programmed obsolescence.

No, the cpu is different between the 5 and 6... don't disagree that this might be programmed obsolescence but the chip is different

I wonder if they fixed the upside-down bug that’s been around nearly forever… 😂

Sounds good, quite useful.
Incredibly useful!

Back on Nokia’s S60 maps app we called this breadcrumbs and I heavily missed this feature - almost 2 decades ago if not longer.

But wait does iOS Maps not get this?!

This is big for being adventurous or for tourists. Now next feature is to share your breadcrumbs to family - HUGE for kids with iOS or WatchOS should they ever get lost or worse (dare I say held hostage or kidnapped or abducted) Taken would be a movie then (I could only wish such situations would be a thing if the past)

It’s only $800. That’s like… a few days worth of Starbucks for my wife
Bruh for your safety I do hope your wife never reads this and finds you in the same week!

Either that amount of coffee and soap will have a new meaning or the amount of Starbucks sweet snacks and either the tombstone/piledriver eill have a much more real-world significant GIF video ;)

Lol you’re just wrong bruh just wrong lol. I’m ☠️

I just wish that the compass apps on my watch and my iPhone 11 agreed about which way they were pointing. Even better if they agreed with my physical compass.

Woiuldn't trust them to descend Ben Nevis in a white out.

I guess they could have implemented that on the phone as well, finally giving that compass app some use.

But that would be one less argument to renew my series 3 (bought at the time it was announced).

Oh well, I don't go that far anyway, and you really have to do it on purpose to get that lost in western Europe. In the US I somehow get it, but at the same time I wonder about that battery...

Is there a way to manually add waypoints to the Compass app on the Apple Watch that aren't simply your current location? I.e. when hiking it would be great to add a waypoint to the app that is the next significant destination on the map. All this seems to do is add waypoints to view that are places you've already been?

Is it any different on the Ultra?

Very pleasant surprise! I've had the betas on the my series 6 and I haven't even noticed, probably since I rarely use it 😅
This is the first I ever heard of a compass and never knew my series 7 had one. I wonder what else I don't know about. I just put it on and don't really use it much other than for time and setting timers occasionally. That's my uses.

So I wonder what the main difference between the Ultra and the Series 8 will be

Anyone think the Ultra will have anything special in the Compass, or just the exact same?

Isn’t the entire point of compass/waypoints so if you get lost…you can…find your way back? How is that useless?

or repeat your journey at some other time.

Or share with someone else, so they can also enjoy the journey like you did.
