I haven't paid attention in the last few weeks, been without Internet...

I understand that there will be a update to watchOS today because of Music. Has there been a beta out on that update yet, or are we in the unknown versus any other stuff showing up in this update?

According to the user guide on the watch, new/modified watch faces might show up unannounced in small updates like this.

Might be exciting! (Or tremendously disappointing)

Um nothing has been said about an update to WatchOS cause of apple music. There is an update to iOS 8.4 though. Currently the only announced WatchOS update is slated for the fall.

Sure about that? I'm guessing if the music app on the watch will integrate with the service, an update is necessary?

Apple's website says there will be a watchOS update for Music.

I stand corrected then.

I doubt we'd see much different in the way of watch faces. Seeing as WatchOS 2 is out this fall and that has faces. If we see anything then I'd say maybe a new complication that's a "now playing"

Agreed, we won't see any watch faces or other exciting features, although Apple Pay will likely be rolled out in the UK in the same update, alongside iOS 8.4. But that's probably the extent.

probably just an update to the remote app for interfacing with apple music?

Watch has its own music app in addition to the remote.

Of note; iOS 8.4 fixes the annoyance of reinstalling already removed apps from the watch whenever an update was performed through the App Store. Yay!

just got iOS 8.4 no updated for the watch is available at this time

I see no update for watchOS either. Strange.

Then again, iTunes refuses to look for updates due to problems on the server. Same with TV.

No update needed for Apple Watch. You can control it from the current WatchOS. I was able to play an album I added but haven't bought yet.

i swear i saw a different iTunes icon on the apple watch for apple music kinda like the new icon for iOS 8.4... maybe when you update to iOS 8.4 it changes the icon on your apple watch to this new icon and activates apple music features without a software update?

I'm not in a place where I can test it, anyone gotten music they haven't purchased (offline mode) onto the watch so they can listen to it without being connected to the phone?

The icon on the apple watch doesn't update yet to match the new Apple Music icon on the phone.

I don't have wireless bluetooth earbuds, so I can't listen through my watch, BUT, it is nice to be able to bring up the glance on the watch to see what's playing on my iPhone without having to look at my iphone.

But you've been able to do that since the launch of the Watch... it even works with Spotify.

The big question here is: will they let us do Apple Music offline mode directly to the Watch so we can workout without needing to take our phones with us.

This would be a HUGE piece of leverage over Spotify, Tidal, Rdio, Pandora, etc....

I'm currently on Spotify and I'm happy... but I'll definitely give Apple Music a look if I can do offline mode to the Watch. Hopefully that will come to Spotify on the Watch this fall once third-party apps are "real".

I think we will see WatchOS 1.02 (or 1.1) in the next week or so, once the iTunes updates go live as well. On the iTunes download page it says 12.2 coming soon. Apple is probably just doing one thing at a time so it stays as smooth as possible.

8.4/10.10.4 Today, iTunes Tomorrow, Betas of 9.0/10.11/WatchOS 2.0 and WatchOS 1.0.2 (1.1) by the end of the week or early next week.

Someone already heard from Apple that iTunes will be updated at 2PM Pacific. If there is a watch update, will probably come after that. They seem to be staggering the server load, but there is no reason to wait days or weeks.

If iTunes comes out today, then I would expect WatchOS tomorrow, then all of the betas on Thursday or Friday.
