To the person who was asking if I was within the 14 day period, I was within 14 days of buying it, however I got it from Amazon.com and not Apple directly. Apple was really generous and this makes me a customer for life.

Apple's plan for customer care has worked....like you say you are a customer for life so are going to spend more than the cost of the replacement in te future.
