Cuz I've got a 320GB at work, black with a single green ring.

I've been eyeing the 1TB WD at costco for 314.00 for like 3 months.

It's this one...they were just released a couple of weeks ago, and this is an insane price. Don't really need an external right now, but I'm sorely tempted to grab one anyway.

Too bad us Canadians can't take advantage of this nice deal. Amazon.com won't ship "electronics" to Canada. *sigh*

I've been planning to buy another external to use as a Time Machine drive around the time Leopard ships. I was leaning toward a MyBook anyway, and this was an excellent deal, so I too just bought one. Thanks for the tip!

wow. Should I or shouldn't I - looks like a great deal - too good to be true? Smells like something is wrong with it when it is new and selling that cheap...can't get an internal that cheap. Still tempting...

What to do?

Uh, folks...read some reviews on WD external drives. A lot of them say the things are really slow, in spite of the claimed rpm. I've found that to be my experience too, and I'm sorry I bought the thing. I shoulda spent a little more for a Seagate or LaCie.

The price appears to have gone back up to $193. Glad I bought one. Now we'll see if it actually ships.

Edit: It appears that some people's orders are being cancelled. Mine hasn't yet.
