Damn, I guess I can't carry around those 50 diamonds in my pocket everyday.

No, no. You can. Just don't place your new iPhone 6 with it's potentially protruding camera lens covered with sapphire glass in the same pocket.

It really only looks like it protrudes a little (not that I'm a fan of that). The lens will be ok, but the metal ring around it will probably see it's fare share of damage.

A protruding lens may be required for an optical zoom. Basically, you asked for it you got it.....

Based on the leaks, I actually think the protruding camera will look quite nice and maybe a bit premium too. And, of course, there's the added benefit of improved camera quality (compared to having a smaller, flush camera).

It's about time to get better camera quality since the competition has better cameras and bigger screens. Maybe people are copying Apple and maybe we are copying somebody else, but due to the failure of most lawsuits to cover the costs of litigation, we just have to keep innovating and do our battles in sales.

Let's get something working, and get it out before the competition and who really cares about perfectly flush or not?

ABC news radio was talking about how the attention given to lawsuits has put the iPhone two generations behind the competition. It wasn't long ago that we were all alone at the top but iPhone is no longer the hands down choice to everybody I talk to. When there was iPhone, it was a one item category, but now iPhone is just another smartphone. Apple, get with the innovations at the speed of release like the early renditions of iPhone and things should work out better. I can't believe we are still waiting for 6 this far down the line and being considered the underdog in a field we practically invented.

I just hope that it does not make the phone "wobbly" when I set it down on a table to type. That might be the only thing that would bother me about the protruding lens.

The people where the iPhone isn't the phone of choice was never the phone of choice. Almost everybody I know and work with has an iPhone.

Abc can say what it wants about apple; for many it is the hands down choice. Of course apples stock price and finances just reinforces the notion that apple has lost the war and is in fact in financial free fall.

The htc evo 4g and 3d both had protruding cameras and I didn't have any problem with noticeable scuffing. Very slight but only on the outsides.
I never ran cases back then either. Only started with that with iPhones for a bit

I don't think it's the best idea, but it shouldn't be too bad. 4yrs later I'm sure they have better lense coating tech too

If you use any kind of case at all, that will make the lens extension less noticeable.

the only iPhone I haven't used without a case was the iPhone 4, so I'm pretty certain I would use a case, therefore this wouldn't be an issue for me. But I typically only use a case because I'm afraid of scratching my phone... I wish I wasn't but that's just how it is. I can't wait for the day where phones are scratch-proof to where I can't look at the phone and get a scratch. I feel like every apple product I own should have a case.

Until I have seen the final product, I can't have an opinion on this. I need to see what Apple has done before I can determine whether its good or bad. Best guess though I'll be happy with it.
