It's almost 30 minutes after pre-orders and the ship dates have only moved to 2-3 weeks with many providers still offering November 3rd in store pick up dates. I guess Apple had a decent amount of stock after all!

We weren't all worried for nothing. I got on the app at around 8:03 and each time I tried to reserve to upgrade my IUP device, it told me there was a error and my order couldn't be fulfilled.

Looks like I'll have to just keep checking stock after November 3.

I’m shocked I was able to get launch day delivery after having problems with my billing address. My order didn’t go through until 8 minutes after the hour. My 7+ was harder to get.

Haha you should have seen Hong Kong. You couldn't even order the phone at all after 15-20 min

I’ve been saying so for weeks. People really let the hype go to their heads. So many people saying that it would be next to impossible to get one in 2017. Like Apple would do a major launch with no product to sell!

There was a really well written post on here that was very logical and explained that if supply was scarce apple would not be releasing to so many countries at once. That's when I realized it can't be as restricted as most of us had been told.

The hype did the trick. Apple got their money from everyone. lol

Speak for yourself. 2nd Dec IUP reservation. Going by what Apple said, all the cards I had laid down should have netted me a Nov 3rd, but it didn't happen.

I was lucky I got in 5 min before preorder start :) I think the wait is pretty bad if you didn’t get in within the first couple of minutes like normal

I got mine early too thankfully! I timed it and within 10 minutes I was still seeing a November 3rd ship date. Around 20 minutes most started to slip but sprint still had november 3rd ship dates.

I'm sorry. That truly does suck and I wish you had a November 3rd ship date. How did you order?

As as right now I still see a 4-5 week delivery time, which is a far cry from the 2018 estimate many people were saying would be the reality if you didn’t order in the first 5 minutes!

Not worried at all. Said it before. If I get it for the 3rd I get it. if not I can wait. Since I already the 8 Plus now no worries.

BUT:

Done and done:
64gb Silver to deliver Nov 3.
Appll App.
Took all of 3 minutes! :D

Damn I had issues using the Verizon app and website. Finally got through on the app and got the silver 256 GB at 3:18 am. Now my ship date is November 10 .

Oh well that's good to hear!

My apple store app did not come up for a good 10-12 minutes. I had originally planned to order via the apple store app. I wound up ordering directly from my carrier which opened pre orders 5 minutes early.

Yes I agree! I was under the impression that if I did not have my order in within the first few minutes I had no hope of getting the X anytime soon.

I'm sorry :( the great news is that's only 1 week more to wait!

App started working at 8:04 and is working fine since then I don't understand why some people say they are having problem with it.
I successfully placed my order at 8:4 (kept closing/reloading the app from 8:01 until it went live at 8:04).

That "magical" feeling is gone with this release

Really is. My excitement had died and waiting that long has kinda put me off for the day.

I did what Apple suggested. Had the app loaded and ready, continuously refreshing it. But by 8 past, I realized something was probably amiss given how everyone was told that was the best means. So I hit up my mac and got through. But then the reservation wouldn't stick. And my 11th Nov date that was promised, came through as the 2nd Dec in my confirmation email.

Its all just a mess, given the app is how I've gotten day one pre-orders with every release before this. But I guess all the desktop buyers shifted to the app today due to Apples advice. Ugh. Sad.

Yes, unfortunately, I started not to rely on the app because SO many people were saying to use the app I figured it might be congested and backed up. I too have used the app perfectly in the past for pre orders. This time was completely different.

I've just tried to reserve an iPhone 8 to upgrade to as a test, and that's also giving me an error. Wonder if there's some strange issue with my IUP account.

I'll never understand how they can't cover release day preorders. Isn't that the entire point of a preorder?

Baffles me, too. Arguably the biggest tech company in the world right now, and after so many of these releases, they still haven't figured it out.

Despite not having enough for everyone they are still managing to ship far more units then any other phone company could imagine... Apple sells millions of the things in just seconds. No other company could even dream of that.

5-6 weeks now. Wonder what it will be by the end of the day.

The Verizon application is horrible. Even some of the representatives have told me to not to use the application and go to the desktop site due to instability. Thats still a good ship date considering the issues you encountered.
