Usually you can hit launch day if you order within the first 30 minutes or so... of course they had more pre order stock this time out. They wanted to avoid people sleeping outside the store while still getting orderly launch day lines.

Despite not having enough for everyone they are still managing to ship far more units then any other phone company could imagine... Apple sells millions of the things in just seconds. No other company could even dream of that.

5-6 weeks now. Wonder what it will be by the end of the day.

Absolutely! They've really got to start solidifying designs way more in advance so they can ramp up production with enough time to meet shipment estimates. They're not in the dark about numbers anymore. They have analysts and rough ideas about how many units are needed for launch and they need to prep for that accordingly. But it seems like they're just not able to grasp the timeframes.

I really think it might slip to January by the end of today. Gonna be a tough pill to swallow for those late orders.

I feel like everything I type tonight is covering my keyboard in salt lol

You and I, both haha

Honestly, it felt the same way as every other Apple launch, probably even quicker.

No matter how many dynamic CDNs they put in front of the store to accelerate we’re all effectively DDOS’s their servers,

If intending to get one on launch date or close to it I’d highly advise to just buy the phone outright without any forms that require round trips back to the origin databases to verify. The quickest way through the system/workflow will get to the serial number stock and therefore confirmed order.

I got my confirmation email before the Apple Pay confirm sound happened on my iphone when ordering through the app. I’d say their system design is as sound as ever, your fault if your ping/network/router/ISP route isn’t optimal and your use case requires a lot of back and forth verification...

Or maybe many people (like me) have just decided to pass on this one as for £500 one can get a Samsung S8 in the UK in these days (and this is from an Apple fan!). £1000 is seriously taking the mick. There is still a chance that I might buy one in the future as I need to replace my iPhone 6 at some point, but it's hard to swallow. And no, in case you are wondering, money is not a problem. Luckily.

I’ve been saying so for weeks. People really let the hype go to their heads. So many people saying that it would be next to impossible to get one in 2017. Like Apple would do a major launch with no product to sell!
Well not next to impossible, but if you aren't willing to go though all the middle of the night ordering stuff, you could be waiting a awhile. In just 90 minutes, the delivery dates for all models moved from 1 week to 5-6 weeks on Apple.com. Will probably be more tomorrow morning. So if you try ordering a week from now, I wouldn't be surprised if it's a 2018 date. But we don't know when and how Apple is ramping production, at some point you would assume that will bring ship dates back down but I wouldn't count on that being soon.

hmmm..Certainly here in UK, it hit 2-3 weeks within 5 minutes!

And this was through the app - by the time the website was up, it was 2-3 weeks minimum

My connection is sound in every way. And given how popular the IUP is and how Apple guaranteed that would be the most efficient means, it kinda falls back on them. You can't blame the buyer for doing exactly what the company suggested.

Even now I suspect that the ship dates are conservative estimates. I bet that many will receive their phones sooner than expected.

Really is. My excitement had died and waiting that long has kinda put me off for the day.

I did what Apple suggested. Had the app loaded and ready, continuously refreshing it. But by 8 past, I realized something was probably amiss given how everyone was told that was the best means. So I hit up my mac and got through. But then the reservation wouldn't stick. And my 11th Nov date that was promised, came through as the 2nd Dec in my confirmation email.

Its all just a mess, given the app is how I've gotten day one pre-orders with every release before this. But I guess all the desktop buyers shifted to the app today due to Apples advice. Ugh. Sad.

Check Best Buy. Seems to be delivering on the 10th or offering store pickup on the same day.

The Verizon application is horrible. Even some of the representatives have told me to not to use the application and go to the desktop site due to instability. Thats still a good ship date considering the issues you encountered.

That's interesting. The Verizon website crashed for me and apple website and app weren't loading. I jumped on the Verizon app and ordered two phones before midnight. Both Nov 3 dates. First time I ever used the Verizon app. Lol
