With the most recent update I now get “ads” for Apple News in my weather forecast. Cmon! I just want my dang weather forecast. Can’t seem to find a way to turn it off either.

Wow, isn't that where the hourly precipitation chart goes when it's raining? I hope there's a way to disable that.

Here is another example. I discovered it in iOS 16.5 RC 1. It's happening I guess! How lame 😌
While it is annoying to see, at least is to an Apple App (News) and not some random website
This debuted in 16.2
Edit: To clarify it only shows a news article on rare occasions so that’s probably why people haven’t noticed it yet/recently. I haven’t seen one since we last got a big storm in the motherland.

Apple News is not available in my country so no ads in the weather app. Let's see if they start to advertise something else.

The news shown seem to be weather related… for me, that’s no big deal. In any case… ”ads” is not what I would call it
So much for Apple "Think Different" and being unique in the tech world. With Ads in apps coming, and subs for software they might as well just be another tech company if they contiune down this slippy slope.

The point is they are distracting. I miss the old Weather App. Simpler & Ahead of its time!
I have the same issue too, together with always completely wrong weather forecasts, this is although another topic to talk about.

Yes. It’s part of Apples local news push tied to the local forecast. Certainly not an “ad” just more information and no different then also providing sunset, humidity etc. that said, the placement combined with any alerts pushes the hourly forecast too far down. Hopefully this will be addressed
What about disabling news app in screen time?
I did both (though I don’t know which one affected it) and there’s no news ads in my weather app
I guess I wouldn't call that an ad because it is an article directly related to the weather condition in your locale. Yes, you may need to have a paid subscription to read that news. Still, I wouldn't call that an ad.
