Since we were going with the basic elements and the last one left is - Space, I’ve decided to go with the flow but it doesn’t necessarily need to be related to astronomy directly and can be interpreted in any way you see fit. So let’s get the ball rolling.

Rules are the same as always -

· The photographs must be your own work.

· Be creative and have fun.

· You may only submit one photo per contest.

· Please do not comment on photos until after the judging has taken place.

· The contest runs for a week and starts now!

· At the end of the week, last week’s winner will choose a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place photo, providing as much feedback as possible.

· If the winner is unable to complete the selection within 48 hours of the deadline for close, then a vote will be carried out to select a winner. This will be based on the number of "likes" each image has. In the event of a draw, the second place winner from the previous week will choose the tiebreaker.

· The 1st place winner will start a new thread with the topic/theme of their choice, and act as the judge for that contest. (Winner has 48 hours to create new theme, after that it defers to 2nd place).

· Please update the Weekly Contest Master List when you post a new contest.

This one is probably the most difficult of the five.

Completely agree. I’m so hyperactively excited to see the entries this time that winning the last competition doesn’t feel like a curse anymore.

You might think differently on judgment day.
[doublepost=1557255191][/doublepost]In Mahāyāna Buddhism, the Sanskrit word “shunya” means space or void. Buddhism teaches us that all spiritual journeys begin from nothing. For the Greeks, the fifth element was “aether” or “spirit.” My entry explores the spiritual side.
This was done in camera with the only processing being cropping and adjusting levels.

Amazing shot @Susurs as always. Loving the Milkyway. Shooting the galaxy is my personal challenge I want to accomplish.

Congrats to all the winners of the last brief, thanks for the feedback. I took this one of my daughter last night, lucky it seems to fit the brief well. It's part of a narrative I am putting together for uni Beam me up.

@deep diver - Glad you brought up the context of "shunya", a very interesting and thought provoking shot.

A series from the most recent lunar eclipse:

@Janichsan - obligatory one I say. Well done on that one.

@tizeye - nice one. I am definitely catching the next shuttle to Mars.

@mollyc - as always, another awesome shot. Loving it.

@Darmok N Jalad - As usual, another amazing shot. Love the contrast of clear sky and the vibrant colour of the trees.

@gaswerks - Beautiful. I have never experienced it myself but definitely visiting Norway / Iceland either later this year or early next year.

@Laird Knox - LOVE IT, well done there.

Ok folks.... That was a wrap. I am so glad that we all got to see such awesome piece of work across the board for such a hard topic. Here is my verdict.

3rd - @mollyc , @Darmok N Jalad
2nd - @Laird Knox , - for an awesome and almost a solid sci-fi looking scene @Apple fanboy - for reminding me that MIB is real.!
Winner - @redshifted - Loved that shot, reminds me of a supernova. What is it exactly?

Thank you very much for the coveted second place! I knew I’d not get one of those beautiful astrophotography shots as it’s far to light where I live and often cloudy.

Well done to all the different interpretations of the theme. It’s the creativity that I like from you guys.
And well done (and commiserations) for @redshifted for the win. Again showing it’s not the gear but the creative streak that is most important. I’m going to guess at some sort of foil wrapping and a light source?
