Weekly photo contest, Aug 24-31 2018: Bridge

I have a soft spot for birds, lone trees and bridges. There are plenty of bridges in the city where I live. But one is my favourite and I keep returning to it. So show me your bridge. ( detail of a bridge, metaphorical bridge )

As per normal...

• The photographs must be of your own creation.

• Explore, get creative and have fun with it.

• You may only submit one photo per weekly contest round.

• Please do not comment on any photos until after the judging has taken place.

• The contest runs for one week, starting NOW!

• At the end of the week, The Judge (last week's Winner) will choose a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place photo, providing as much feedback as they possibly can.

• If the Judge is unable to complete the selection within 48 hours of the deadline for close, then a vote will be carried out to select a winner. This will be based on the number of "likes" each image has. In the event of a draw, the second place winner from the previous week will choose the tiebreaker.

• The 1st place Winner will start a new thread with the topic/theme of their choice, and act as the Judge for that contest. (Winner has 48 hours to create new theme, after that it defers to 2nd place).

• Winners please update the Weekly Photo Contest Master thread

I’ve been quiet here lately. Mainly because work has been crazy and I didn’t get time to complete post processing the pictures from my more recent trips but thought I’ll drop by for this week’s challenge & say hi to all of you guys.

Being in London, I wanted to stay away from uploading pictures of all the well known bridges that people see a lot. So here’s a not so well known one.

Edit - just returned from my weekend hiking trip and thought I’ll change my entry. With this one instead.

From the James River Pipeline in Richmond, VA. Under the bridge the kids are on is a pipeline to direct stormwater away from the James River; above them is a CSX train bridge - so a two-fer here.

Crossing the Cuyahoga River in Cleveland, OH

The stone bridge is the Superior Viaduct. The Memorial Shoreway bridge is behind that. The third bridge in a vertical lift rail bridge that connects the "mainland" to Whiskey Island. I shot the image from the lower level of the Detroit-Superior Bridge.

Before you make jokes, the river has not burned since 1969.

molly has a two-fer. I have a four-fer. Anyone want to go for 5 or 6?

US-93 into Twin Falls, ID. It’s an old shot, and this will be a tough competition. Fun fact: while I was here, a guy base-jumped off and parachuted to the valley below. This is a popular spot for such a thing, and you can do so year round, and apparently no permit is required.
