This weeks theme is ' Night Traffic'. Have fun.

As always, standard rules apply:

  • The photographs must be your own work
  • You may only submit one photo per contest.
  • No commenting or liking photos until after the judging has taken place. ( no 'mollying')
  • This contest runs for about a week, starting now.
  • At the end of the competition, the judge (last week's winner) will choose a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place photo, providing as much feedback as possible.
  • The 1st place winner will start a new thread here with the topic/theme of their choice, and act as the judge for that contest. (Winner has 48 hours to create new theme, after that it defers to 2nd place).
  • Be sure to update the Contest Master List as soon as you post a new theme.

He's in the middle of nowhere with a weak signal, and will finish off the first post when back in civilisation ;)

Cheers :)

True. Thanks Hugh.
Cell phone reception in norway is great in urban areas, but in the mountains it is difficult.
I am travelling home today. So tomorrow I can tidy things. On a laptop and not a tiny cellphone.
😀

The results. Thanks to all who participated this week. This is my reaction to the images.

@Strider64 A great start of the contest. A lovely clean night image. I think I would like it even more if the cars (or a car) were visible.

@_timo_redux_ Love the colors and the square composition. The details like the watertower and the chinese sign are positioned beautifully in the frame. A classic.

@OldMacs4Me From film, that's impressive. I can't say more about it. Was it a test shot? It's a bit dull. Sorry.

@Hughmac I can feel the tension of driving in bad weather. I've been there ( and on the M2 too).

@someoldguy My first impression was that the scene is too busy. But it isn't. It is actually a clean image. Must be the christmas lights playing tricks on me.

@TheYayAreaLiving 🎗 Where is this? I think this scene would benefit from another composition ( or even a crop). Do you have a photo of the outside structure? Is it built like a huge sine wave?

@akash.nu This is night traffic! Fighting for space. For me the taxi is is main subject. Would love to see it have a little more space around it. (just like the driver probably)

@Janichsan True! Pedestrians are traffic too. (even according to local law) The amount of bicycles make it feel like home. I like it's simple structure and focus point. I must confess I zoomed in to read the ads on the wall.

3rd @akash.nu It really presents night traffice. Busy. Bright lights.
2nd @Janichsan Simple and clean.
1st @_timo_redux_ A standard interpretation of the theme, but lovely executed. This would look great as a large print on a wall.

Congrats to all the winners . It appears that both @akash.nu and my entries were taken pretty close to each other , location wise . Mine was on 5th Av. ,near 38th or 39th St. looking north (just past the old Lord & Taylor store) .It looks like his was taken from across the street on 5th looking South . If I had known , I would have turned around and waved ,but it wouldn't have done any good as I took my shot in 2017 IIRC.

Thanks a lot. I know what you mean, if I could get the car in properly it would have been better but this was a shot I took while crossing the road while the traffic had just stopped for the lights.

I had Poke bowl at stake that night. It was almost on the verge of closing for the day.

Thank you! Honestly humbled. Thank you for the safest podium!
