In 2018 I wrote:"I have a soft spot for birds, lone trees and bridges. There are plenty of bridges in the city where I live. But one is my favourite and I keep returning to it. So show me your bridge. ( detail of a bridge, metaphorical bridge )". Nothing much has changed since then, so let's do it again!

Lots of entries! Great!

@tcphoto1 the road/cycle path is nice leading line to the bridge. But it's not powerful enough to make the bridge really 'pop'

@_timo_redux_ Beautiful light on two bridges. The flag is a nice detail to tell about the location. Did you wait for the seagul? A nice addition. It adds dynamics.

@kendallm Nice to include your own comments. I second that. ( I wish all participants did that. 🙂 )

@yey365 A shot of an icon. Intriguing. I like the fog and the piercing red light. The dark mountain on the right doesn't add much to the image.

@C0ncreteBl0nde ncret he photo has nice depth. I find the pole in the upper right a bit disturbing.

@goldmac2006 Oh boy, where is this? I guess Las Vegas or similar. It's a weird but captivating image. I guess it would make a great jigsaw puzzle

@someoldguy I love the framing of this image. You used the perfect shutterspeed to include the waterfall.

@tizeye That's not a bridge! What happened here? What is the story?

@bunnspecial An interesting detail of a bridge. Sometimes the details are more interesting than an shot that covers it all.

@cjs I love the composotion and the timing. It's not a mystery where you took this shot. Love it.

@Janichsan I see what you did there. Using a bridge as a leading line. It works.

@thirsty_monk Straight from the tourist information brochure. "our bridges and walkways are safe for everyone!"

@Snowlover A minimalist bridge. Did you take this shot because of the high water level? It seems the water has almost reached the bridge.

@Apple_Glen_UK Another icon. With a red bus. Combined with lots of blue. Nice and simple. The bottom right corner distracts me a bit.

The podium:

3rd @someoldguy and @yey365
2nd @_timo_redux_
1st @cjsuk

Congrats to podium.

Yes, this is the footbridge I built over the seasonal creek that runs past our cottage. We got a ton of rain that year (2017) , and the bridge was eventually washed away.

First, congratulations to the podium. Great entries.

Actually, it is (or was) a bridge. History: Originally, Henry Flagler built the Florida East Coast Railroad which was the sole land based route from Miami to Key West. A 1935 hurricane wiped out portions of the railroad line and was cheaper to abandon the line. This created the original paved "Overseas Highway" transitioned the pylons for the railroad to bridge supports. The bridge was active from 1938 until replaced by the new bridge in 1972. On the photo, you can see the old rails and that pipe laid with the bridge was the freshwater supply for the Keys and Key West. While all of the bridges were replaced with the new/current Overseas Highway, they always too a section out at both ends of the replaced bridges to prevent usage with some cut further out allowing walking/fishing from the old bridge. Look at the paved lanes. while disrepair is obvious, can you imagine when active in the 60's driving a Cadillac, Bonneville, Olds 98, or Crown Vic on it with the low rails.

The Overseas Highway is considered on of the most scenic drives in the US. A couple other photos for reference from the top of the cut - which they have blocked off half-way up today and moved that info sign from the base/start of the bridge to the midway barricade. That island on the Atlantic side no longer exists, following a hurricane. Also, while this cut allows sailboats through to the harbor/ramp just past the swimming area, they can't pass through to the Gulf side as the new bridge is too low through its entire length across the Bahia Honda Pass.

The photos were taken June 30, 2007. This shoreline where this end of the bridge is located is Bahia Honda State Park

Oh wow wasn't expecting that one. Thanks 🙂. Great entries all around as always! Going to look at them all in detail when I get a minute.

The history of that shot is quite annoying. I think I tried to take it at least 5-6 times over half a decade but nothing ever lined up just right. On a completely random walking tour around London it was just right for once without any effort.

Unfortunately I'm about to jump on a plane and won't be around for a week so will be unable to set up the next competition. @_timo_redux_ as next on podium (and deserves the first more than me) can you please do this one 🙂
