Week - June 12-19 weekly photo contest.

Please forgive any mistakes - first time doing this.

This weeks theme - MOTION

A subject in motion. Freezing motion, panning, long exposure or whatever?
I’m not sure I’m a good judge but I’ll try my best.

Standard rules apply:

· The photographs must be your own work.

· Be creative and have fun.

· You may only submit one photo per contest.

· Please do not comment on photos until after the judging has taken place.

· The contest runs for a week and starts now!

· At the end of the week, last week’s winner will choose a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place photo, providing as much feedback as possible.

· If the winner is unable to complete the selection within 48 hours of the deadline for close, then a vote will be carried out to select a winner. This will be based on the number of "likes" each image has. In the event of a draw, the second place winner from the previous week will choose the tiebreaker.

· The 1st place winner will start a new thread with the topic/theme of their choice, and act as the judge for that contest. (Winner has 48 hours to create new theme, after that it defers to 2nd place).

· Please update the Weekly Contest Master List when you post a new contest.

No placeholders for me. . Piccadilly Circus is always on the move!

@akash.nu Great sense of movement/motion. Captures the business of the scene very well, I love the choice of exposure allowing just enough detail to make out figures. The warm tones of the landscape are complimented well against the cool tones of the sky.

@redshifted A lot of motion here. The flow pulls me down into the centre of the frame and then the turbulence leads me around the frame, nice use of lines. Strong colours, rather warm, the mud must have been stirred up well. Nice choice of exposure to smoothen out the fast flow of water.

@MacDonaldTrump - Yuk, just horrible :)

@tizeye Nice fast shutter to capture a moment. You have frozen the action well the water looks frozen in the air adding energy to the image. I have lost the subject a little behind the water but it would be hard to compose it how you want from the shore, possibly a tighter crop may help bring out the jetski a little more. Great image to capture the subject so sharp from such a distance.

@AllergyDoc What a fun place! those rides make me so sick. You get a great sense of fun from the image, everyone seems to be smiling and you have captured the mood well. Vibrant colour and nice choice of shutter speed to freeze the moment. In some areas the highlights are a little blown out and detail has been lost a little but you could correct this with a little retouching if needed. Hard to balance all the light in fast situations, nice work.

@Susurs Heaps better than MacDonaldTrumps :) nice panning shot, a good subject for the brief. You have captured the train nice and sharp which is tricky to do. The inclusion of lights in the background help give a good sense of speed. Its quite a dark image but the lights on the front of the train draw the eye to the subject.

@anotherscotsman Love this, what a great image. Congratulations for taking the time to get up early.. or stay out late. Fantastic use of exposure and leading lines. The contrasting colour in the traffic's direction help create interesting composition. My eye follows the yellow light all the way through the frame to the fiery red tone. Beautifully handled image.

(sorry rushing now have to run to work)

@Darmok N Jalad. Great macro shot, I can see the sense of motion from the wing, either landing or taking off maybe?
nicely framed with the greenery creating a nice border to hold the subject.

@Janichsan Vibrant, exciting shot. Love the sense of colour, nice selection of shutter speed. It captures the wheel in motion perfectly.

So far I have only managed feedback for theses shots. Sorry I haven't had much of a chance so it was a little rushed. Should be able to get back on later and add some more.

1st - @anotherscotsman - congrats beautiful image

2nd - Very close second - @Hughmac - the definitive moment, well timed capture. A great image.

3rd Equal 3rd @Janichsan @Susurs (I couldn't split it) Both great images that fit the brief well.

Congrats to the winners, and everyone for submitting.

Sorry gotta run!

Many thanks for the feedback (not sure about the 1st place though ) very surprised given the quality of the entries, especially @tizeye and @Laird Knox

Might take me a day or two to get a new competition out though so please be patient. Thanks again.

Well done all involved and congrats to the winner, that image has won for you before and rightly so, it’s superb.
Cheers @Donka , with a limited portfolio of decent images I have to make them earn their keep!
