WOW!!!!! Thank you for the nod Deep River….I'm actually in Oklahoma City working this week, and just happened to check the forums as I'm fighting to stay awake! I'll have a topic posted within 24 hours! Thank you again.

Thanks deep diver, you did a great job judging! I was gone all day, sorry, my brother broke his foot.

wow. multiple fractures. good news is that it's in the middle of the metatarsal shafts and not by the base. wish your brother a quick recovery.

I think that's good but what does it mean?

From a military sense, particulary and Air Force one, "cleared in hot" would mean that you are cleared by whomever is controlling the airspace to go in and engage a target.

Thanks for stepping in and judging. In miltary parlance "the judging was Sierra Hotel and we need to make sure the contest does not go Tango Uniform:cool:

You mean more like this?

pick%20L1035648-Le%20Mans%2024h.jpg

I would have not shot this in color, as I don't care much for color these days.
I would not have shot this with a longer exposure, as I wanted to freeze the motion of the marshal, waving the flag, while having the approaching cars in the scene.
I would not have panned the shot, as the marshal would have been blurred.
I processed this with low contrast, to have plenty detail in the final print.

It is not, as this was an accidental shot, but a thoughtful exposure - so your judgement confuses me
More of this years Le Mans will be found after a site update, as soon, as I am finished with printing.

Anyway - congratulations for the winner - a well deserved win.

I like the first image the most from the three. Very nice. Without the perspective of the contest I could see where deep was coming from a bit. Since the contest was "time" I looked at your entry and saw nostalgia. The way it was shot and the treatment made me think of shots from the 50's or so. Of course the modern cars give it away but that's they way I looked at it. Keep em' coming.

Timeless love.

Sorry! Did not see that you had entered the task otherwise I would have offered up the judging however, as I am yet to win a contest in my own right I thought I should wait.

I think I have seen this picture posted by you before. Something about the two people that met in an old peoples home?

I think the story needs to go with the picture otherwise it in itself just seems as though it's a normal picture.

The vignette is nice however, I would say that with the composition I would have liked the hands to be right in the middle. They are off to the right with a large expanse of pink arm and not so much brown!

A nice picture though and a nice memory if you know the story associated with it!

Thanks, runlsd. You seem to know about bones?? How long will this take to heal?

I don't know that much. :) Just some random facts from studying Anat & Phys from school and breaking bones personally.. haha.

Usually for a fracture, I've had doctors/radiologists estimate 4-6 weeks. As for metatarsal fractures, there's a higher risk of complications if the fracture(s) is close or at the base of the metatarsals.

I broke my 5th metatarsal right at the base. The doctor predicted 4-6 weeks. Ended up taking 4 months to heal. But I'm a stubborn idiot and was on my foot way more than I should have been.

Your brother's metatarsals are broken in at least 3 different places. Not sure if they'll choose to let nature take its course or choose surgery. Surgery often yields to quicker healing but there are potential complications obviously.

Again, speedy recovery!

Thanks!

Thanks Deep. very nice critique of my photo! Having a "panel" of judges certainly would not hurt, it would actually streamline the process and maybe yield some more consistent results?

PS I just got back from a 7 day BWCA camping trip so expect a post from me soon with some of the better photos taken!

Great photos guys!

Thanks for the comment Jeff - will enter from time to time in the future ;-)
