Weekly photo contest | March 21 - March 28 | Scary

Influenced by @arkitect love for snakes, the new theme is 'Scary'. Whatever thing that is scary: snakes, world politics, self portraits, lenses balancing on cliff edges.

As always, the standard rules apply:

• The photographs must be your own work. No AI generated images.
• You may only submit one photo per contest.
• No commenting or liking photos until after the judging has taken place.
• This contest runs for about a week, starting now.
• At the end of the competition, the judge (last week's winner) will choose a 1st, 2nd and 3rd place photo, providing as much feedback as possible.
• The 1st place winner will start a new thread here with the topic/theme of their choice, and act as the judge for that contest. (Winner has 48 hours to create new theme, after that it defers to 2nd place).
• Be sure to update the Contest Master List as soon as you post a new theme.
• The contest will close on Saturday, March 28th at 22:00 CET

@goldmac2006 Now this is scary. Composition may lack something, but you managed to capture a real scary moment. Regarding the composition: the bottom feels a bit cut off and I think it would be better if the helmet didn't overlap with the building. But still: a great capture.

@thirsty_monk : I like your choice for B/W and and backlit creature. It must be really scary to encounter this thing at night.

@Janichsan : Some kind of wasp-spider I guess, With this size; double scary. You managed to capture its beautiful colours.

@csjuk: Ominous looking island (?). Great interpretation of this weeks theme.

@C0ncreteBl0nde Nice composition. I like the lighting. It adds to the mystery.

@BrightQuest22 Scary indeed. Pity that its hand it cut off. I feel that there are possibilities to enhance the composition.

@chown33 So signs are scary nowadays? 🙂 Seriously, I wouldn't go near the water. This would be really too scary for me. Nice find!

Amazing. This was a BMX bike ride show that my younger brother’s school had for open house. I did have to crop out part of the bottom as the ramp was covered by the crowd. Thanks for the podium spot
