Gazing out the window trying to come up with a suitable new topic for this coming week's competition, I suddenly realized that my potential topic was sparkling at me, winking at me as the sun blazed down and it rippled slightly with a soft gust of wind.....
WATER. A basic essential of life, something which we see and experience in so many ways each and every day, from drinking it to cooking in it, from swimming in it to capturing fish from it to protecting ourselves from it to simply gazing at it..... We appreciate water in its many and varied forms, and we have a love-hate relationship with it at times, as it can be both beautiful and deadly, appealing and treacherous. WATER. We can't live without it and unsurprisingly, photographers through the years have found it irresistible......
So have at it, folks! Share your favorite images from your archives or better yet, if you're so inclined, go out and shoot something new for this week. Water in its infinite variety, is out there all around us, just waiting for your camera and lens to capture it in an interesting and intriguing way....
As always, be mindful of our customary rules that come into play for the weekly competitions:
· Follow all relevant local laws regarding stay-at-home orders. If you can't go outside, try and take a photo at home or grab one from the archives.
· Do not comment, vote, react or click “like” on images prior to the winners being announced.
· The photographs must be your own work.
· You may only submit one photo per contest.
· This contest runs for one week. If in doubt, check the dates in the title.
· At the end of the week, The Judge will choose a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place photo, providing as much feedback as possible.
· If the Judge is unable to complete the selection within 48 hours of the deadline, then last week's 2nd place has to step in. 3rd place takes over should 2nd place be similarly unable to officiate.
· The 1st place Winner will start a new thread with the topic/theme of their choice, and act as the Judge for that contest. (Winner has 48 hours to create a new theme, after that it defers to 2nd place).
· Be sure to update the Contest Master List as soon as you post a new theme.
