thanks, I've been speaking to a company called apple guys in Rochdale, they sound good & would do the conversion for me but can't find anyone who's had the work done by them

Looks fantastic; close to or feels exactly like your stock iphone 4? I've been on the lookout for Canadian seller or installer that has quality parts.

I received my white parts from wefixmac today, however, i've had a couple of issues. The LCD screen I received appears to have some pressure damage and is discoloured in one corner when powered on. The front panel also didn't include the mesh for the earpiece and has a number of scratches and scrapes along the edges. I've emailed the guys at wefixmac and now am waiting for their response.

The quality of the backpanel is quite good, better than some of the ones i've seen, but not 100%.

I'll keep people updated with how i get on, it may just be a one off issue.

Cheers for the update, and hope you get a response from them soon ;D
Would love to see the finished product.
Good luck mate!

@mintyfresh8 did you get a response from WeFixMac?

I've taken the plunge today, and decided to order parts from them. Hoping that your bad front is a one off. Paid for special delivery, so hopefully will arrive early next week.

Will update when my parts from them arrive for anyone interested.

Not received anything from them yet, I'll give them until Monday and I'll probably send another email.

Hehe. The back is perfect. I'll try and take a picture in a bit. Meanwhile, for reasons that have nothing to do with the parts, I'm considering going 'Back to Black' so if anyone wants to make me an offer they can do so.

I'm sorry to hear of the posters' experience with wefix as being less than great. I have a tiny bit of abrasion at the edge of my white front but nothing noticeable. If you have any problems, they're better by telephone so just give them a call.

How come you're suddenly going back to original black? ;o
Could it be something displeasing with the white?

Not at all. I work somewhere that would be displeased with me showing people my white iPhone. ;)

Still not received any response from wefixmac. I would not recommend them for the time being.

Attached are a couple of picture of the discoloured LCD, probably caused by pressure damage.

I'm so sorry. DEFINITELY call them. I have found them to be nothing but great over the phone. There's a guy there with a brummie accent; he's been really great with me. I hope they sort you out.

Just a quick update.
What were supposed to be my parts have arrived today; however, a iPhone 3G digitizer in black isnt much use to me, and not what I ordered.

Phoned them up, spoke to the brummie guy, and they are sending out new parts today.
Although he was very helpful, its still a bit annoying.

@mintyfresh8 did you get hold of them about your bad front piece?

sucks!

that particular area of the screen is where one of the screws in the back lines up with. Ive seen a few videos on youtube where some people have used the wrong sized screw and subsequently gone into the back of the LCD, i wouldnt be suprised if thats what happened with yours (previously to your conversion).

I finally got a response but only after filing a paypal dispute. They blatently didn't even ready my email, they told me to send the parts back and I'll get a refund, even though i specifically asked for a replacement.

Another thing to note about the parts which no one else has mentioned is that they do not include the mesh for the earpiece.

@pez555 - I don't think it was caused by a screw, as this picture was taken after a quick reassembly without any screws for testing(only used screws at the sides to secure the front panel to the metal frame). Maybe the part i received was a customer return, but there was no sign of any damage on the back of the lcd.

Any other issues people are facing after the conversion?

Another quick update;
recieved white parts today and the tools I ordered. The back panel is completely perfect.

The front panel had a couple of paint chips under the glass on the right hand side; they were small, but for the cost of it, I felt they shouldnt be there, so I phoned wefixmac and have been assured that they will exchange for a part they will be personally checked for imperfections.

Also, they forgot to send me a home button.

It does seem I have had a lot of hassle; but when I phoned them, they have been really helpful, so I have sent back the front today (and the order they sent me by mistake) and hopefully early next week I'll get a decent front panel.

The hassle will be worth it if I get a decent front panel. They were willing to give me a refund, but I quite like the way they handled it on the phone, and offered an exchange for another front that will be "personally checked". So fingers crossed!

Have to say, anyone reading this thread I would think twice before ordering from this company.

They received my faulty LCD on Friday morning, which I was returning due to the paint chips on the right hand side of the display. For what it cost, these should not have been there. They received before 11am when I checked it according to the tracking.

I phone them on Monday as I hadn't heard or received my new white LCD (bear in mind, I paid extra for special delivery); and was told that they "do not work weekends".

They confirmed that they had received the dodgy display, and told me that they would be posting the new one out today (Monday).

Well, its now Wednesday and still no display. Even if they had sent it using normal 1st class mail it should have arrived today.

Although they have been nothing but helpful on the phone, their actions speak differently, as do the quality of the parts.

I hope I can update this tomorrow with a happier response, and pictures of some good parts; but I'm not getting my hopes up, and thinking about ordering from elsewhere.

Matt

It's unfortunate to hear about your problems. I actually manage to get a full refund back from wefixmac, but I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.

I've actually manage to source a full white conversion kit direct from Hong Kong and the quality is top notch. The parts themselves are far better than the ones I received from wefixmac, almost perfect apart from the home button which is a bit off rotation wise when fitted. Including shipping it cost similar to the kit at wefixmac but includes the headphone jack, dock connector and most importantly the earpiece mesh. I'll post some pictures when I have a chance. The parts had a manufacture date of 2011 so must have solved some of the previous issues.

I took the plunge & went with the appleguys based in Rochdale. I'm really pleased with the conversion and the parts seem really high quality. The only minor flaw is that the square on the home button is slightly not straight but it's hardly noticeable. Front, rear and home button cost me £130 with them converting it for me

Any chance you could upload some pictures? Looking elsewhere as a last resort.

Will do. It will be tomorrow now. I've put a zagging shield on mine, but that shouldn't affect picture quality

To all that are having problems with wefix mac I offer my sincere apologies for recommending them. I had no problems with them and was surprised at their cheapness. The only advice I can offer is to speak to the Brummie guy, then make him put you onto Dean who is the kid who sends out the parts. Make sure Dean knows that he is to send you the part and express to him that you want a perfect one. He should be able to take care of you.

I hope this helps.
