My Plus seems to have an okay vibrate, but its much louder and sounds kinda annoyingly tinny. Does it have to "break in?" Is anyone else picking up on it?

I did read in one of the reviews...I can't remember which one...the reviewer talking about how very loud the vibrate notification is. It's so loud it almost mitigates the purpose of purpose of having the ringer off....

From Gruber's review:
GOOD VIBRATIONS

I don’t know if it’s that the nerves on my right thigh have started dying through over-stimulation or what, but I miss an awful lot of notifications and sometimes even phone calls when my iPhone 5S is in my pocket in Silent mode. The iPhone 6 has a noticeably stronger vibrator to me, and with the iPhone 6 Plus, it’s so powerful it’s actually a bit noisy — the sound made by the 6 Plus vibrator is so strong, I wonder if there are going to be complaints that it’s not “silent” at all.

As someone who runs his iPhone in silent mode much of the time, I definitely appreciate the stronger vibrator.

I can just imagine people walking up to blurt out to a Genius "I'm not happy with my vibrator."

I remember having a similar reaction to my iPhone 5 when I first got it. It was different than the sound from the 4. I'm sure in a few days we won't even think about it.

FFS, im sitting here next to my front door waiting for my UPS 6 Plus delivery, which could come anytime from 9am-7pm, and now I have to deal with dorks from the forums complaining that their iPhones are horribly defective and atrocious. This is going to be a long day.

Today would be the best/worst day to be a delivery carrier. A bunch of crazies sitting by their front door for hours foaming at the mouth to get a phone. I bet some fun stories come out of it.

Oh and the "dorks" are on the forum huh? ........ ;)

They made the vibration so loud so that you'd want to keep DND mode on and rely on an Apple Watch for notifications.

I was hoping the vibration mechanism would be significantly more powerful. Going to a 4S from a Blackberry, the weaker vibration notification was one of my only complaints.

I often miss the iPhone silent notification.

Seriously. This vibration has a sound that comes when it starts and finishes. There's def something up with the motors they use.

use a custom vibration pattern with the shortest vibration (shortest quick tap) you can do. might mitigate issue.

They're all different! Have had my share of phone swaps and have had some that are louder/stronger and quiet/weak.

One of the shortfalls of previous phones is that you could barely feel the vibrate let alone hear it.

6+ is an improvement.

vibrate used to suck now the motor is decent and people complain? o lawdy, try a galaxy s5 and tell me which vibrate you prefer. that thing scares the chit outta me whenever it goes off on a table near me.

You are most likely hearing the camera assembly rattle. The phone is thinner and and things are differently arranged inside. It could also the motor mount of the vibrating motor. This this comes up with every phone released

I'm slowly getting used to it. It definitely is a few notches higher in pitch than the 5s but its also more powerful or so it feels which is good because my phone is ALWAYS on silent.

I guess mine is the odd ball?

Mine is almost completely silent, even when sitting on my hard desk right next to me, I missed a phone call because I didn't hear it vibrate - I found this unusual because my old one would jiggle all over the place.

I can feel it in my pocket, but I have to put my ear right next to it to hear the vibration.
