I did the rebate back in 2006 when the original Macbooks came out. They were giving away Nanos at the time, but I wanted a video so I bought the video, and paid the full price. I then mailed in the rebate, and after a month I got a check back for $200 I believe. Rather painless! The rebates came back really fast.

Screw waiting for the new one. I'm buying one before sept. 15 for the free ipod. It's not very often someone sells you a great computer and gives you a 300 dollar ipod for free.

What's funny is that folks will buy the new ones, complain they're buggy, and then other posters will say "I'm waiting for the bugs to get cleaned before I buy". Then when the bugs are cleaned up, they'll be stating how the next greatest chip will be released shortly, and then they'll want to wait for that latest and greatest.

The endless circle of technology... :)

I went through the rebate process! I must say it was a LOT simpler than I thought it would be. Now I just have to wait for the check.

Why do people call it BlackBook? It's a black MacBook. Just like the iPod Touch isn't an iTouch.

For some reason, I'm ok with the term blackbook but very averse to itouch. I guess because blackbook actaully differentiates it from the white models, whereas itouch just sounds silly. I call mine a touch for short and everyone knows what I mean. No one says inano do they?
