4s

It's possible she wanted a 4S but there would have been easier ways to get one than dropping and breaking her existing 4. Just sell the 4 and get the 4S. No muss, no fuss, no broken gorilla glass. It's not like she couldn't afford it.

As it is, the existing 4 will likely be repaired and sold.

Same thing happened to my wife. She was taking it out of her coat pocket and it slipped right out. Smashed the front glass. Rather than get it fixed she took my upgrade and got a 4S. I'm seeing a pattern emerge.

I am a total klutz with phones. I keep my iPhone 4 zipped in a Lowpro Volta 20 case (designed for digital cameras) when I'm carrying it around. I've dropped it a good dozen times so far when in the case so it was a smart move :)

The case is a bit snug and the phone only fits in a certain way, but it didn't take long to figure that out.

I'd love to buy one of these broken and even broken and repaird iPhone 4 models off of someone :( Unfortunately I don't have access to the marketplace and let's just say my local craigslist is... meh (I don't live in a super-awesome area)

as most people are saying about their significant other. my fiance has dropped her phone so many times im surprised it hasn't broken yet. On concrete, from the table, down an entire flight of hardwood stairs. However a few months ago she did manage to drop it in the toilet then proceed to use every function on it (no doubt shorting something out)

i told her she was lucky the 4s just came out and she only had to pay the $150 replacement fee rather than $200.

sooner or later i'll bet she cracks the screen. :p
