"Banks have been strong supporters of Apple Pay"....

Thank you for this information. That is all I need to know that I will NEVER use this way of paying for anything. The "banks" are the new mafia. And there is an inverse relationship in that what is good for the banks, is NOT good for consumers. Only a matter of time for the "angle" to be exposed.

Banks are a strong supporter of ApplePay because banks assume fraud protection and ApplePay eliminates fraud in CC transactions.

Banks like Apple Pay because there will be no fraudulent charges with Apple Pay.

Currently, and in the past, there are/have been a lot of fraudulent credit/debit card charges.

Go spew your anti-bank sentiments somewhere else. Normal, educated people have no problem with banks "destroying our lives".

That's not entirely true..... in 2009 my house value dropped 50% and it was certainly not because of my doing.

JP Morgan and all the other banks played a big part in this.....

Oh good grief. Excuse me a minute while I make a withdrawl from your mattress.

The angle is that with Touch ID the burden of proving a transaction is fraudulent will be forced into the consumer. Someone can fake your signature, but they will argue that the biometric authorization is airtight proof of cardholder authorization. Say by by to no questions asked charge backs.

It's called one way to live in a civilized society.

hmm.. maybe. though i think most of what is allowing us to become more civilized is technology.. pretty much everything that has made your life better when compared to your ancestors is technology. not money (i mean, money has been around forever.. how civilized would you consider rome 1a.d.?)

do you really consider this civilized?

or, do you really consider the modern world as the epitome of civilization? because maybe i'm too much of a dreamer or smthng but i don't think we're anywhere close to a true civilized society.. i can't accept what we have now as the be all and end all.

(and hey, that video isn't meant for me to try to prove some sort of point or whatever.. it's just that most people don't even question what money is, how it's made, what gives it value, etc.. definitely something i think everybody should give at least a little bit of attention to.. it's a very prominent factor in most people's lives)

US Bank - Apple Pay support beginning Nov. 20th

Just received an email from US Bank confirming this.

banks aren't only a place to store your money.. they also make it and control the implicit value of it.. or-- in other words, i don't think your mattress comment correlates with what you were responding to.

I consider reality to be reality and utopia to be utopia--fairly different and separate concepts, at least as far as Homo sapiens involvement goes.

Nah. I'll spew it right here. Unless you wanna try and stop me. Your call.

And I'm guessing you've never bothered to take a single macroeconomics class or have any real understanding of economic policy, the degree to which it is influenced by banks and its effects on the economy and the ENTIRE population as a whole. Good luck pulling yourself up by your boot straps during a worldwide economic collapse.

The day I hold MYSELF responsible for the actions of the federal reserve and the world's major banks will be a cold day in hell. If you'd like to take responsibility for their actions like a fool, be my guest.

Listen tough guy, (sorry I had to:p)

I agree with everything that you are saying about the banks. The reality here is that Apple pay doesn't really change systems in place. It does give me increased security, which I'm sure the only reason the banks care is because it reduces their fraud. Fair enough. This problem with CurrentC is not going to destroy banks, at all. They get the money either way. Your argument in this realm then is irrelevant. However, CurrentC does hurt me as a consumer by forcing me to give more information to an insecure system that doesn't protect ME from any fraud.

The evils of banking need to be fought on different grounds, because here, I'm just trading one evil for another.

Hopefully chase freedom or capital one will do this that would be nice to get some free money, as I have yet to try out my cards on Apple Pay.

Also, I wonder if Discover will get in on Apple Pay?

I can get a $20 credit simply by using my credit card. But they need a W-9 for my $10 debit card credit?

I opened my WF account 15 years ago, I have no idea what I signed at that time. Probably not a W-9. Guess I have to pay Tax on the $10?

From Terms: https://www.wellsfargo.com/jump/debit-card/debit-apple-pay
Customer must have a certified U.S. taxpayer identification number (W-9) on file with Wells Fargo (signed and dated).

The truth is that they don't need the W-9 until they give you in excess of $600 but many places, apparently Wells Fargo included get the W-9 for all gifts involving cash to protect themselves.
