The TMob senior plan does not lack data. Unlimited and unthrottled until 50 GB. It is the exact same plan for data, 480p video,, slow hotspot, slow international, and 1 hr GoGo access as their lower tier regular unlimited plan less the free Netflix subscription. All for $50 for single line, $75 for two.

Sounds like a good deal. Where the senior plans lack is Data and I think streaming is limited to 480p. It says unlimited but where it is limited is video is SD quality not HD quality. I'm not quite senior age but getting there so I noticed that plan when I saw it advertised.

Service all depends on your area. I have used AT&T for years. I get service most places. I read T-Mobile uses the same towers so I am assuming they would be decent as well. Have no experience with Verizon, but there have been occasions when my Verizon friends had service and I didn't, or vice versa. No plan is perfect. I have another friend on Sprint and his service always sucks.

What I meant by lack fo data was lack of features and HD.

Bezels don't bother me at all. When you add a case you get them anyway. Hardest thing is for me to pick new service since I haven't had a personal phone for awhile. The T-Mobile unlimited senior (55+) plan sounds perfect but I am not familiar with their reliability... and coverage is still on the weak side compared to VZ. But it comes with international coverage and free time on airlines' GOGO wifi which would come in handy. All for $50.

Needs are different, so what I say may not pertain to anyone else in this thread. The T-Mobile 55+ plan looks like an excellent option if T-Mobile provides the reception where you usually are. I almost switched our phones from a Verizon MVNO (Selectel Wireless) to it last year, but we're in a rural area and that's where T-Mobile usually lags, but they are gaining ground on Verizon and AT&T.

We ended up switching to Consumer Cellular because we use little data and because we were able to choose the AT&T towers option (you can also choose the T-Mobile towers option). We have the same coverage as AT&T postpaid. My wife and I share 2GB's a month because we are usually on Wi-Fi (about $54 total including taxes/fees). If we need more data one month, CC automatically moves us to the next level (5GB for an additional $10). We can then opt back to the lower level online the following month.

That may not work for you if you need unlimited data, but for those most often on Wi-Fi and/or do not stream a lot of video, it's a good, frugal option with solid reception. And if you are in areas with good T-Mo coverage, the 55+ plan is hard to beat. BTW, our daughter and her family are on T-Mobile and love it.

I am sat here waiting for the Apple store to call me when they have stock of the iPhone 8, the X range all look awesome (I had the X) but i just need the home button.

Funny thing is that all the stores over here are short of stock for the 64 GB iPhone 8......

I was feeling some anxiety and thinking I needed the home button, too, but the face ID works great for opening the phone and the swipe up to home took like once to learn. The Face ID even works for me with my sunglasses on which is a concern I had. I am a happy camper.

There are over 800 refurbished 64GB units available on the Apple online store.

Sorry for the rant but I think this bezel thing is silly. How did we ever survive for all those years when ALL phones had bezels? Until the X came out I never heard a peep out of anyone regarding bezels. Especially iPhone users. Samsung and others were already reducing bezels before the X came out. Never heard any complaints. Now all of a sudden people make it sound like if your iPhone has a bezel it's ancient and hideous. To me it just looks different from the X and a few other models. No better no worse. I like the look of the X series, but I feel all the drama about bezels is just theater.

It's also kind of funny that people claim the .6 mm between the XR and the Xs adds too much thickness to a phone and feel they might have problems getting it in their pocket. That's POINT .6 of one mm or 0.023622 inches. Not to mention just about everyone puts on a case that makes their phone a half inch thick. Silly I tell ya.

The XR is a beautiful phone.

Agreed. You don't want giant bezels, but a millimeter or two? Doesn't bother me at all. Bothers me a lot less than losing damn near a quarter inch of my screen for that stupid notch.

I went with the Xr also. I am now having second thoughts and may return it for a 8+. I use an iPad Pro a lot. Switching from the paper shaped rectangle of a display on the iPad to the elongated rectangular rounded corner display with the notch takes some adjusting to every time I switch devices. Kinda prefer to just have the paper shaped squared corners of the iPad on all of my iOS devices. I have about another week left in my return period to decide.

I must walk thru life with the least amount of perception possible because I have never ever one time noticed or thought to myself, Wow there is such a difference going from one device to the other! Then again I don’t see huge differences in LCD and OLED. I am not sure, but I think I am blessed in that way!

Wish I could say the same but after using an iPad Pro for a couple hours then picking up phone, it seems abnormally elongated. However after using the phone for a bit of time and then going back to the squared off look of the iPad, it seems more normal. Just my opinion. The notch don’t seem to bother me as much as the curved corners and the elongation

Not that you need assistance with your decision making, but I realize how close the iPhone 8 is to the XR, in terms of performance, it’s fairly equivalent between the A11 & A12, the iPhone 8 still has wireless charging, True tone, same water resistance, and anecdotally, some claim the iPhone 8 Plus has a better display over the XR, which they are very similar. If you wanted to save money and you could ideally abandon face ID and the new form factor with the XR, I think 8+ is still an amazing buy for those who want look deeper into the comparisons between both models.

Good point. If I recall correctly, you save $50 US buying a 64GB 8+ but pay $50 more for the 8+ if you need to step up to the next storage option (128GB XR and 256GB 8+). That was one reason I bought and kept the XR instead of buying an 8+.

I went with smaller 8 for all the above reasons. And I also hate Face ID which gave me headaches. But one thing I miss is portrait camera mode on 8.

Anyone aware of one good third party app to take portrait pics without too much fuss.

I use Halide and it performs really well for portrait shots(even on objects), unfortunately I am not sure if it would work on an 8 as I am personally on an iPhone XR.

Me too! Never noticed this until Act3 pointed it out.
