Well, not very impressed with Wipr. £1.99 from the App Store and I'm seeing banner ads on this website.

Anyone want to offer an alternative again? I don't mind paying, but I don't like the subscription model of AdGuard Pro. Maybe 1Blocker?

I use AdGuard Home (similar to Pi-hole). I have it installed on my NAS and it protects the whole network, including phones, tablets, smart TVs, streaming devices and so on. I previously ran it on a Raspberry Pi. In the browser I use AdGuard in whitelist mode - I only have it enabled for specific sites, but not many.

each add on maybe an add blocker dosnt contribute to your internet stelth.
for both my macOS and IOS devices i made Brave my my default internet broser. also using a VPN everywhere and in my iPhone

i dont represent any of these products.

Wipr was (in my opinion) the best blocker when it was just a Safari extension. When it came out as a macOS app, that is when things have gone downhill and continue to do so. Upon emailing the dev that some websites are not working correctly in the app but working correctly in the legacy extension, initially it was suggested that he will look into it, and some months later it became please whitelist those websites. Clearly, they are not looking at fine-tuning their code.

I now use Adblock Pro for Safari on both macOS and iOS. I got it for free or 50% off if I remember right. 1Blocker is a one-time purchase as well as subscription, and Adblock Pro for Safari may get you 1 year of Pro features if you are able to get 3 unique Apple IDs to download the app using your referral code.

As I am now using Adblock Pro more, I realise that this is decidedly blocking more and better than Wipr was, and has broken just 1 website so far, whereas in Wipr it was at least 5 that I visited frequently.

If I did not have the paid version of Adblock Pro when it was a one-time purchase, I would probably go for 1Blocker today, since it seems to be more loved and for me it works exactly as Adblock Pro.

People are often confused between Adblock Pro and other blockers with the word ad in their titles.

This is Adblock Pro for Safari:

You can try both Adblock Pro and 1Blocker. Both are excellent. I have been one of the most vocal proponents of Wipr in the past, but I cannot recommend Wipr any longer. Other apps such as these two are way, way better. On top of it, Wipr (to me) is devolving, and the dev's nonchalance over the years since the macOS app launched does not help.

If you must have a one-time payment blocker, you can look into Better Blocker as well. That blocker works brilliantly and its blocker detection circumvention actually works.

I'm currently using Wipr and I like it. It's not configurable as other blocker nor it shows stats or fancy things, but has one feature that for me is an absolute requirement: it does not ask for permissions to access/view/snoop/wathever web traffic.

Also it's really simple, no need to configure at all except click the automatic refresh button

I am using Adguard for a while now on all of my Apple devices and it is working well.
Compared to some other adblockers (eg Adblock Plus), Adguard definitely blocks the most (which is good).

On the Mac it is free, on my mobile devices I am using the Pro version of Adguard.
Same using the Adguard, it runs in Safari as an extension and does the job pretty well.

I like 1Blocker and have been very pleased with it. I did the one time purchase for $24 for all devices.
