As a driver:
As a cyclist:

People who think it's funny to shout abuse at you when driving past. Though when the stop at the lights a few hundred metres up the road their door mirrors seem to fall off.

Some of the most aggressive road users I've seen (in London) have been cyclists. Shouting abuse to all and sundry. Usually when they've steamed it through yet another red light and the wrong way up a one-way street  I'm a "2 wheels good" kinda guy but these pumped up lycra types are pricks, give us a bad name and will be the catalyst for some kind of taxation/licensing system coming in for cyclists.

As I've been driving for so long I stick to the highway code, sadly some cyclists are ****s (guess all transport modes have their nob heads) and are so anti car they feel the need not to bound by the highway code. It would be nice to see the Police bollock those that run red lights and generally abuse the road traffic laws.

What annoys me? People who speed; who killed too many people around here.

So I'm all for any measures that slow these people down.

Sorry jimmi, but statements like that make me really angry. Can you categorically prove that speeding killed them as opposed to other factors (poor observation is actually more likely than speed to be the cause of accidents).

The latest stats I can find via a quick Google search are these which shows "Excessive speed having regard to conditions" (note that this could be under the speed limit in adverse weather conditions etc) as only the third largest cause of accidents.

It has to be accepted though that these accidents caused a disproportionately high number of deaths compared to the two causes above it. But drugs or alcohol caused almost as many deaths with half as many accidents. Perhaps this should be the focus as it is clearly at least as dangerous as speed.

Unfortunately it would require real Police officers, not cameras so the government is not interested as the cost of these officers would outweigh the money they generate, unlike the cameras which make enough money to fund themselves and their amazing expansion rate.

Re: Above two posts, the following book is highly recommended.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Mind-Drivin...=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1212487844&sr=8-1

Way better than the Roadcraft manual.

Anyway, Mind Driving argues cause of accidents is interaction of speed, space and surprise. Drive to the conditions: You can safely go as fast as you want, as long as there is space and little room for surprise etc. Sounds like the drivers causing the deaths got the wrong balance (too much speed, not enough space, too many opportunities for surprise and not masterful of the cars controls). I'm sure you can work out the other interactions of the three.

Erm, right so you committed numerous crimes to "get even"? By the sounds of it you are at least as dangerous as he is, probably significantly more so. I'd be ready for the Police to give you a visit for criminal damage and possible actual bodily harm.

If I were you I think about some sort of anger management classes...

Edit to add: posting a confession of your crimes on a public website is probably not such a great idea either...

Did anyone see the Cutting Edge 'Gridlock and road rage' documentary on Channel 4 last week? Some clips are available on the website.

Classic examples of UK attitudes to driving (or at least some of them) - well worth a look if you can find it.

Hey hang on a minute, the bloke was on a mobile phone in the wrong lane clearly not knowing what he's doing or where he's going,i had to follow him off as it was my exit,he then had his left hand on the steering wheel and had half his body hanging out of his window shouting at me and making hand signals,he got out of his van first so we squared up

If the police turn up so be it

As for anger management this is the first time i've ever actually done anything like this, but i admit i got angry & lost it for a couple of minutes

You should not be driving.

As above

I can't prove since there are no news articles about it but from all the deaths involving my friends or family of friends - no driver was drunk. They were, as they said "racing". Probably doesn't help that it's a semi-rural environment and these drivers could be thinking that nobody would be around to injure.
Hell my dad almost got involved in a serious accident when a car was speeding over the moors, lost control and smashed into the side of my dads car. These people just don't think of anyone else.

However there was an accident a couple of years ago where 5 20-somethings died after their car was speeding and plunged down a cliff. Most of the passengers were drunk or had taken drugs except the driver.

Yet oddly enough a friend has driven home drunk many times (much to our protests), even drove past police cars and has never been in trouble over it.

I don't see how him doing something wrong makes it right for you to do what you did. The correct response is to simply ignore him and continue on your journey.

Totally agree. You can;t fight wrong with wrong, you should just accept that many people do things wrong that will agitate you but you have to take a deep breath and get on with your journey and not let it bother you.
He may never stop talking and driving at the same time but at some point he will get seen and he will get points on his license and it is not down to you to dish out punishment

Yes your right, but i only honked him on the roundabout ( he was going no faster than a snail ) as he was blocking my exit & was clearly a danger to other road users,it was his responce that angered me like i was the one in the wrong

Wait were you actually serious in your original post...i thought you were joking

You weren't in the wrong when you honked him. In fact you would appear to be one of the few people using the horn correctly (iirc you are only allowed to use it to alert other road users to your presence if you think they may be unaware, not to tell your mates you've arrived outside their house, attract the attention of the hot babe walking over there etc). Everything you did after that point was a big illegal no no.

Yep i know that but when you have some little pr*ck hanging out of a moving van shouting abuse at you i admit i saw red, like i said it's the first time it's ever happened,i just sat there and thought
no why should i put up with that when im the one in the right

Why should he put up with you assaulting him and destroying his property? By your logic he would have then been justified in chasing after you and taking it to the next level by killing you and blowing up your car. After all why should he put up with someone throttling him and stamping on his phone?

The Police are there for a reason. Leave it up to them.

If he's that much of an idiot he'll probably Darwin Award himself out of the human race anyway. Unfortunately if you see red that easily you may well do the same to yourself...

Yep i understand what your saying robbie,i admit it was wrong of me to try throttling him,but i saw red for a split second and just thought no i aint having that, your right about the police also, I'm normally a passive kind of guy and driver, but this kind of thing happen's to me all the time and unfortunately this time i lost it
