Oh Yeah

are you serious? people actually do that?!?!?
WOW..

Yes i'm serious it's either they are too lazy too flip them out or too dumb to realise they're still in ! Creeping over give way lines is also my pet hate or pedestrian crossings etc. Also short people who insist on driving with their faces pressed against the windscreen. Just the other day i saw a car rolling up the road with no one in it ! I stopped my car and ran after it the dumb sucker had gone shopping and left the handbrake off (okay that was Cyprus) I bet they got back in it and never knew anything apart from being confused why there was a brick under the front wheel. ZERO TOLERANCE FOR GIMPS

Reading this thread reaffirms my belief that I was correct in not buying a car after selling mine last year. :D

I personally don't like Beamers for the same reason I don't like Volkswagons. They're far too trendy. There is one village in particular in Chicago, with a population of about 80,000, where you will almost only see BMWs & Jettas. aside from a few Audi A4s, Jeep Cherokees/Wranglers and Volvos peppered in.

I don't know if I got that right: There is a country in the world where a _Jetta_ is considered "trendy"?

Once here in the UK there was someone driving the normal speed limit and someone behind them screamed at them to hurry up so he slowed down! :p

I think the Congestion CHarge is stupid, it dosent do what its meant to and it takes all motorist's money, although according to Top Gear loads of people have registored their cars and minicabs so they dont have to pay it! :D

People assuming you want to let them out at a junction.

No. If I'm going to let you out, I'll let you out and I'll flash my lights to let you know that I'm letting you out.

If you're sat there blowing fag smoke out the window, on your mobile, with your stereo at 150dB - I'm not going to let you out, and if you want to try, then you can speak to my insurance company about the crash you caused whilst using a mobile phone whilst in control of a motor vehicle.

How far you stick your nose out will also make a difference. If you're front wheels are over the line with the bumper half way across the lane - you're NOT coming out infront of me. If you're waiting, patiently, at the right place...chances are I'll let you out.

Positioning at junctions - good one... I agree about allowing people out of junctions - if I want to give way to you, I'll make it quite clear!

Equally bad is when someone sits three or four feet away from the line, craning their neck like mad to see round the corner. If they'd only move forward, they could see no problem...

Parents dropping off/picking up kids from school - they really don't give a damn where they stop, mounting the kerb (usually at an angle), flinging open the doors of their massive seven-seater 4x4, to deposit one small child as close as mechanically possible to the school gates so as they don't get run over by bad drivers (!) or taken away by strangers.

People who don't pay attention when you signal you're giving way to them, either by flashing your lights or waving them in, then just when you think they weren't paying attention, they move at the same time as you, just as you've given up on letting them go. Grrrr...

What may annoy you even more is that you have a gas guzzler car like a BMW Alpine you car tax will be going from £200 to £455!

Mine in my SEAT 130bhp Turdo Diesel will be going down by £10 to £110 next year then up by £5 to £115!

Work yours out here

Morons who tailgate. Do they not realise that if I have to stop suddenly, they're going to have an accident, and they're the ones that are going to be held liable by the insurance companies?
People who drive with their headlights on when there's no need for them (i.e. during the day, in good conditions).
People who put their foglights on when it rains even a little or is a tiny bit dark.
The existence of Vauxhall Corsas, most of them are driven by reprobates.
People who mess around with the font and/or spacing of their registration plate. It just looks sad, and I don't really care what your name is.
People who drive 4x4s who don't have a need for them (i.e. people who live in cities, where the nearest they get to mud is when they go for a facial).
"Baby on board" stickers. Yes, you're fertile. Big deal.
Mobile phone users. Round them up and shoot them.

WTF? There is no issue with driving with headlights on dipped beam. Even in daylight it improves your visibility and is of no harm to anyone. In fact it's required by law in many Scandinavian countries.

Fog lights I can understand being annoying, but not dipped beam headlights.

Some cars (I believe Volvos do) have their headlights on constantly even during the day as a safety feature. And why is it a bad thing??

I drive a Vauxhall Corsa and drive it responsible. Admittedly some people drive it like an arse but that is the same with many cars popular with young drivers like Puntos, 106s and Polos

Uhhh I kinda do that when I want to cross a road... Because I'm too busy looking for a break in the traffic than expecting someone to be considerate enough to let me cross.

^^ I was referring mainly to other drivers, BlakTornado, but I suppose it is a different matter with pedestrians.

I will quite often give way to pedestrians, if I can see they definitely want to cross and I have enough time to slow down or brake to do it safely, without endangering myself or other drivers.

I'm pleased to see no one has complained about cyclists. If anyone listens to 5Live and the ranters who call in, generally cyclists get a bad rap. I cycle more than I drive and I think a lot of the complaints are poorly founded - but then I live in Oxford where cycling is commonplace and perhaps the rules of the road are adhered to more.

Actual driving complaints: yeah, nobheads who make ridiculous (and often dangerous) overtaking moves only to slam their brakes on 10 secs later.

oh - and lorry/truck racing on motorways or even wore, dual carriageways. The speed differential is generally 0.5 mph because the *ever so slightly* slower vehicle refuses to ease off the gas. As a result, traffic backs up behind. I have seen lorries battle it out for 5 minutes, only to then see the overtaker give up and fall back again. Thanks guys. Maybe try losing a bit of weight and you might have the edge next time ;)

I'll join the group of people hating foglights. Also, people driving on country lanes at night who wait until they've blinded you to switch down to dipped beam.

Lunja - Idiots intent on overtaking EVERYTHING they come up to. Driving through Lincolnshire's country roads I regularly see near-misses, usually commited by either execs of fathers with a car full of kids.

I lived in Lincolnshire for a while. IMO many of the near misses are caused by the large number of drivers there that drive at a steady 50 mph. Drives everyone else bonkers! It's quite noticeable when you drive into Lincolnshire that suddenly the traffic is doing 50 mph outside of town.

---------------

I'd agree with what everyone's said so far and I'd like to add another one:

People who pull up in a traffic queue and leave a gap in front of them big enough to fit another car in, then when you pull up and stop behind them them creep forward and leave the big gap behind them.

---------------

I noticed a couple of votes for white vans. I think white van man is a thing of the past, completely outclassed by the new species

BIG SILVER CAR MAN

I have some particular gripes (maybe?)

1) People who park up in the opposite direction to you and have their headlights on rather than sidelights  - you don't know if they are going to pull away or not.

2) People who park up in-between vehicles and have their hazards on  - it looks like they are indicating to pull out.

3) People who park opposite another car that is parked up when there is clearly space to park 20 yards up, thereby creating a 1 lane obstruction - and especially if they don't have the courtesy to chuck the car half up on the kerb.:mad::mad:
