I know I've posted in here before, but I have an update to the list:
Extract - I rented this thinking how much I liked Office Space, but 45 minutes into the film I realized I hadn't laughed ...the characters were cartoonish and simple. I stopped the DVD at that point and watched something else.

At least you saw the movie the other guy did not.He was judging the movie with the trailers ? I have'nt seen it either.

I judge so by the plot and the trailer, it's always a good plan to look into the story line reading the directors synopsis ignoring the rave reviews and hype before bothering to spend a dime on a disappointment. Those are the best selling points for a product. Do you go to the auto lot and pick out the pretty shiny red convertible based on first impression? No you research what the long term costs are going to be including mileage, maintenance and insurance. The same goes for entertainment you don't just look at the picture on the cover of the book that can be misleading--you open it and read a couple of pages including the authors notes to get an idea where the story is going. If it doesn't go anywhere save yourself the trouble.

Basically the plot is overused and weak for Avatar it is a rehash of the old cowboys and indians kind of story where progress is pushing out the natives only it's swamped in special effects. Same basic plot as a movie like Enemy Mine where towards the end the same kind of plot unfolds and the hero Dennis Quade sides with the aliens being enslaved by a mining company, Little Big Man where Dustin Hoffman joins the tribe and leads Custer into the ambush, or Dances with Wolves where Costner joins the Sioux tribe when the US army start opening settlement of the west. Avatar based on these factors is dull to say the least--just a rewrite with lots of shiny sparkly effects.

I agree 100%. One film you mention that I really liked and haven't seen in a very long time, Little Big Man.... What a great movie IMHO. The story kind of reminds me of Gump but set back in the "western" era.

I've only ever walked out of 2 films:

"First Knight" with Sean Connery et al and "Paris is Burning". The absolute worst movies EVER!! IMO

What was wrong with Paris is Burning? That was a damn good doc on a subject most people are unfamiliar with. Or was it the subject matter that bothered you? If that's the case, it has nothing to do with it being a good or bad film. List of awards for that film:

* 1990 IDA Award, International Documentary Association
* 1990 LAFCA Award Best Documentary, Los Angeles Film Critics Association
* 1990 Audience Award Best Documentary, San Francisco International Lesbian & Gay Film Festival
* 1991 Grand Jury Prize Documentary, Sundance Film Festival
* 1991 Teddy Award for Best Documentary Film, Berlin International Film Festival
* 1991 Boston Society of Film Critics Awards (BSFC) Best Documentary
* 1991 the very first Open Palm Award, now called Breakthrough Director Award Gotham Awards
* 1991 NYFCC Award Best Documentary, New York Film Critics Circle Awards
* 1991 Golden Space Needle Award Best Documentary, Seattle International Film Festival
* 1992 Outstanding Film (Documentary), GLAAD Media Awards
* 1992 NSFC Award Best Documentary, National Society of Film Critics

You don't get an awards list like that because your film is bad.

I was living as a gay man at the time and went with about a dozen gay friends, several of whom were drag queens. I thought it was dreadful and full of whiners and I couldn't stand it. Trust me, it wasn't the subject matter itself.

Then it was indeed the subject matter, especially if you didn't like the subjects. What are you "living as" now?

It wasn't the subject matter, it was the whining and "I'm such a victim!" nonsense. I'm now happily married, to a woman, and sorry, but I had to do some work.

That's interesting. Again- you didn't like the people in the film, hence the subjects of the film, thus the subject matter. And really, you haven't walked in those people's shoes. I found a lot of them to be very strong and inspiring. But that's just me.

So did you get "cured", or are you bisexual? ;) The devil would be wearing ice skates before I ever jumped the fence.

Might get a bit of flak for this, but anything with Sandra Bullock in it!

Won't come from me. She's terrible.

The answer is obvious. You don't really need to ask, though you may want to. I can hardly bear the suspense...

I don't think it's obvious. I'm not familiar with MultiM. And I don't really care what other people do, as long as they don't try to hurt anybody else, or try to force others to do the same as they did.

Little Big Man was a fascinating perspective on General Custers last stand from the eyes of an old man telling his version of history, Little big man used a plot tool similar to that in Young Guns II (years before even young guns 1 was made) having the old man(main character) narrate the tale....of course when it came to Billy the Kid the plot tool was thought to possibly be based in some truth--but no one ever was able to verify old "Brushy Bills" story for certainty. Gump was interesting and I can see where there might be some parallels as well in the rythm of the stories.

To Wong Foo Thanks for Everything remains the only movie I've ever walked out of. I can't even remember why now.

One of the worst movies I've seen from beginning to end has got to be the most recent Indiana Jones. The worst movies I've ever seen but never completed are the ones that have Ben Stiller and/or Owen Wilson in them. If those guys can act they need new agents.

Recently was Forbidden Kingdom with Jackie Chan and Jet Li. What a pile of crap that was.

And for the record, Batman & Robin, with Arnold as Mr. Freeze is the worst movie of all time.

There again, I liked The Forbidden Kingdom. It was a good adventure story. Just basic fun. It wasn't the best by a long shot but didn't have any glaring flaws.
