Like any corporation, they've always been about making money. But I know what you're saying.

One of the main things that attracted me to Apple in the first place was what I thought was their spirit of innovation. Whatever the reason, that spirit seems to be long gone now. It's almost as if they've mailed it in with the long-phone 5. I don't want to hear how the phone is thinner, how it's now widescreen, how the CPU/GPU have been over-clocked...and on and on and on. These are expected of any next generation phone. Give me something daring and unexpected to remind me of why I fell in love with Apple in the first place.

well put.

Everytime I heard about android updates I always feel that these are the sort of updates apple would of done back in the day. But it seems that they've died out...others have become the new apple so to speak. i'm slowly accepting this.

Just for fun I called the guy at the Casino I frequent in Las Vegas, he does a great job with all my sports bets.

When I asked about the iPhone he chuckled. Apparently I'm not the first to ask.

Nice! I've actually wondered this myself ;) Instead I typically take the running bet w/the hubby and I run down the bullet list of "upgrades" for every iPhone/iPad launch for kicks.

It would be pretty funny seeing all the aggravated people here if the iPhone doesn't turn out like on the rumors.

But this time the rumors are too strong so I believe what we've seen in the reports is the real thing just like with the 4 leak.

Apple customers are quick to accept & buy anything Apple offers.

It's an amazing phenomenon.

It just seems like we are going to get the one we've been seeing recently. It just feels like blah, yeah we've seen it for months, it's boring that we don't have crazy leaks anymore.

I'm pretty sure the leaks we've been seeing are the real deal.
I like the design though and I'm excited to get it.

However, it'd be even greater if it's a totally new design.

Think of the shock!! :eek::eek::eek::eek:

Long Time Reader/Lurker, first time poster.

As an apple nut, like most on this board, I've been thinking a lot about the iPhone 5, and in particular what Tim Cook Said about doubling down on security/secrecy. Obviously the amount of leaks ahead of this launch is astronomical. But if they were serious about doubling down, maybe they did, and whats been leaked has been controlled and maybe we really haven't seen the iPhone 5, but instead redesigned 4 and 4S models.

Hear me out...

Amongst all the rumors lately, one in particular regarding the iPad Mini / new dock connector got me to thinking. The rumor that I'm referring to is that when they launch the mini they are supposed to be also launching a slightly redesigned iPad with the new dock connector. So along with the Mini, New iPad, New iPhone, and all of the new iPod line, everything will be using the new 9 pin connector...except the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4s.

So it stands to reason that Apple would want to get its entire product line updated with the new 9 pin since they will likely be selling the iPhone 4 for another year, and the 4S for two more years to maintain their "Good, Better, Best" Product structure. Redesign also makes sense for Apple for another reason, LTE, they probably understand the likelihood of someone wanting a free 4S a year and a half from now, and that without LTE that likelihood will drop by quite a bit, especially with the Cheap android LTE options already saturating that price point today. So to keep with the times, this gives them the opportunity to move to a more modern 4" screen, LTE, and update to their new pin Connector, all in an effort to not only unify their new 9-pin connector but to ensure their good & better options will continue to relevant option in the marketplace.

This would also explain why all the leaks look more like the 4 and 4s than any of the teardrop and radical redesign rumors that were all floating around last year.

So if this is the case, maybe the 5 in the invitation is not just a nod to the iPhone 5, but maybe a 5" iPhone. Think about it. The GSIII is 4.8" and currently the #1 smartphone on the market. If anyone can put a 5" screen in a smaller, sleeker, thinner form factor it would be apple. Of course, maybe 5" is a pipe dream, and too big, but even still if its just a nod to iPhone 5, if these are leaks are new 4 and 4s models, they could still go to 4.3 or 4.5 inches on an iPhone 5 model with a radical new design. This could also be the reason NFC is nowhere to be found on the leaked models, as that'd be a feature reserved for passbook and the iPhone 5.

Especially at a time when the iPhone is no longer the #1 smartphone in the us, this model above would not only shock the tech industry, but also put in place a new plan to not only retake the #1 spot (as its sure it anyway) but to once again dominate the marketplace altogether by offering viable Free and $99 options that boast new screen, LTE, and dock connector.

What do you think? Just a pipe dream? Realistic chance of happening? Or will the iPhone 5 just be another "Evolutionary" step instead of revolutionary.

Maybe I just hope it is because I want a bigger screen, NFC, and a compelling reason to keep my iPhone, because if it just turns out to match the leaks, I'm gonna take a hard look at Galaxy SIII and Note II options.

I dont get what your trying to say...

That the iPhone 5 might be have 5 inch display?

Its not like there isn't a 5 inch phone/phablet before (Galaxy Note).

Its not like Apple could realistically make it dramatically smaller than the Galaxy SIII which has a 4.8 inch screen. Its just not possible.

Its not like all the leaks are pointing to a 5 inch screen.

Basically if your expecting 5 inches...go to Android now because your going to be disappointed.

While I would hope that these leaks are wrong, seems like Apple wants to go with a proven familiar style. Actually all these leaks have taken some of the fun out of the Iphone 5 (if the leaks are true).
Hardware is a key feature in cars, cellphones etc. Everyone always wants a cool looking cellphone as well as one that has a good operating system
