I'd probably try and wait, financially a small delay would be better as these machines are most likely going to cost more in the UK than the current line up and it gives me extra time to save.

That said, my 2010 MBP really had been used and abused, certainly had my money's worth and I'm not sure he'll make it to next year.

Seriously considering jumping ship to another desktop or a Hackintosh. My 2011 13" MBP is straining under pressure of just about everytime I try to remotely multitask or to do homework while watching any video despite clean reinstalls.

Not sure macOS, as it's become increasingly unstable for me, is worth the cost anymore.

I assume the worst thing that will happen is Apple updates the current Macbook Pros to the most current specs and i'll buy that one. They updated the Macbook to Skylake earlier this year so they have no reason not to at least do that with the Macbook Pro. I don't really feel like waiting another year. You can't win always with technology. This is financially the best opportunity for me to get a new Macbook laptop. Super worse case scenario, i'll just have to buy the 2015 Macbook Pro.

Happy using the Surface Book on the go and using my MacBook Pro 2013 for Final Cut Pro. I use the tablet feature of the surface more than I ever did on the iPad Pro 12.9 inch that I recently sold. I'm in no hurry to upgrade at this point but it will be interesting what Apple comes out with.

If the new MacBook Pros can support external GPUs then I will be a little more excited ;)

Keep waiting, I've already waited this long and no way I'm getting a crappy windows laptop

Wait! Once the new rMBP comes out I will get my current rMBP replaced by Apple with the newest comparable rMBP! Cant wait. Little hassle waiting considering my current rMBP has some sensors and bluetooth errors, but hey its worth waiting for a free upgrade. :)

Probably just continue to wait, but I won't be happy about it, gosh darn it.

Continue using my 2010 MBP. Got an SSD and upgraded RAM. A little over halfway through the battery life cycle, so I can wait another year or two. It'll be cut out of the macOS updates by then, but whatever (probably will be cut out next year with 10.13)

I will finally give up on Apple for computer hardware. I've already done that on the desktop side, as the current batch are nothing but expensive desk ornaments, but if no new laptops are coming then I'll be switching there as well.

And I will finally just have to accept that Apple are a phone and mobile device company - I still love my iPhone and iPad, and I believe there is nothing that can touch them.

Wait. Husband just got his own XPS13 with Ubuntu so he promised to let me touch it :) I've got a new apple tv and NAS to keep me entertained for a few months. I refuse to look at the ads for the new HP machines or the Dells or the .... no, really, I'm not looking lol.... but you know, I actually *could* switch. ITunes runs on Windows, all I need it is to back up my iPads/iPhone. Scrivener runs on Windows. Most of the other apps I might use also run on Windows. No, I'm really not looking, lol... but it will be a long Winter...

How's the dell xps? I checked one out in person and was very impressed. It still felt a bit bulky but that bezeless screen was very nice.

I'd be interested to know too. I assume everyone is going for the high-res screen version?

I was very impressed, I was very tempted for it, but I had my heart set on the Surface Book

I have heard that some people that want to run some Linux distros have had issues with the 4K screen. But I know it work great with Windows 10.

What if the new Macbook pro is released, but has certain features REMOVED compared to the 2015 model which suddenly makes the 2015 version more attractive than it is now?

Is that a possibility?

Seems to be the way that things like this always work.

What features would these be?

The only one I can think of is using the keyboard from the MacBook.

He loves it, and I really like it as well. The screen is nice and very readable, it makes everything else look old fashioned lol. It's actually nice having a touch screen with linux - sometimes it's just quicker to reach out and touch a button instead of navigating to it. Very quick to boot with the SSD. I was surprised how small the laptop was for a 13", in fact, it made me decide I'll go back to a 15" for the MacBook Pro. Ubuntu has some glitches that he's working through (Problems with suspending on case close), but it's an extremely well built machine.

I'll laugh hard at the reactions on the "waiting for Skylake thread", then continue to use my crapBookPro because I have too, but get a Razer Stealth Blade or the Lenovo Yoga with the OLED screen and learn to use them for all my coding & development purposes, and finally be free of Apple.
Well, for computers, phone and tablets are even more difficult to leave :)

I will probably laugh ... and I'm not sure when the laughter would stop.

Thank you guys for the comments. The rumors seem to be true according to the articles from the last few days.

Please Apple, don't disappoint me...
