why would people pay for mywi? the iOS thetering app is really great...

If you are referring to the iTether app that was in the app store for like a nanosecond then you should know it is unavailable. Moreover it needs an app on the mac or PC to work--it is not a mobile hotspot like MyWi.

As for me I DID get Tether while it was available. It's great that I can use that with my mb air when I have no wifi.

But for my wifi iPad it is useless--and part of the reason I got a wifi only iPad was because of MyWi.

If you were referring to the tethering built into iOS--which is not really a stand-alone app--then that usually incurs a higher fee. In the case of AT&T that is $45 per month. Considering I never use more than 2GB, even with occasional light tethering, I don't feel it is worth it. I pay for just 2GB, and it suits me fine.

After I jb my 4s I'm going to create a different username, then start a different thread from all the others titled: "4s jailbreak bricked my phone".

I'm going to activate my phone. :)

Seriously, mine has been sitting in the box waiting for the JB, as I have a need for tethering for work once per month. I was busy restoring a Linux box when Tether came out, so I missed that one, and I am still on my jailbroken/unlocked iPhone 3G. So when the JB drops, I'm activating my 4S, adding SSH, Terminal, MyWi, and possibly My3G or 3GUnrestrictor, depending on which one is better.

Perhaps iFile as well.

1. Springtomize 2 (The ultimate customization application for the iPhone)

2. SBSettings (Notification center system toggles)

3. GV SMS Extension (Makes my google voice text messages go to the default messaging app)

4. Fullscreen for Safari (Gets rid of the top and bottom space wasting bars in Safari for a fullscreen experience)

5. NES4iPhone (NES gaming emulator I can use w/ a bluetooth wiimote)

Woops... forgot a couple of key ones:

6. Adblocker (Ad blocker for Safari browser)

7. MobileTerminal (change the default "alpine" password for security purposes)

I'm talking about mywi app it is my understanding that ATT already knows if you tether or use it as a mobile hotspot, I'm wondering why would people buy this app? if ATT already knows when users use it... if you want mobile hotspot just use the native app on the iPhone...att knows anyway that was my inquery

Infinifolders
Infinidock
3G Unrestrictor

Otherwise I'm happy with iOS5 stock. I just want more space in folders, more space in my dock, and the ability to use Facetime when I'm not on WiFi so I can random chat w/ the kidlets/wife.

Maybe SBSettings, but I rarely turn off my WiFi and that's mainly what I used to use it for.

Just curious, I've never used backgrounder, how is it different or better than regular multitask option on the phone?

Sometimes if I'm listening to a book on Audible, Espn, podcast in iCatcher.. the app just closes... I don't know why, I would assume that the iPhone thinks its out of memory. Backgrounder prevents the app from closing....It's awesome!!

hmm, interesting. Maybe I'll give it a shot:D Thanks for the feedback!

Do you guys plan on jailbreaking straight away or wait a few hours or days? I would like to jailbreak straight away but this is going to be my first time and I don't know if that's a good idea or not.

why would it make a difference, once the jailbreak is out, it's out. It's completely reversible anyway.

We never know how much time we have left in this life...and I'm wondering if the oft-reported jailbreak for 4S will occur during my lifetime...or whether there will be an app to send it on ahead.

been using my iPhone 4 jailbroken...can't wait to experience the fastness of the A5 chip and jailbroken!! My 4S is sitting on my bedside table collection dust.

It's not completely reversible. If you need to restore and Apple released 5.1 then you're out of luck which is why you might want to wait and see if there are any problems.

I thought about i2HD again but the naming has changed again. I'm being lazy, i dont wanna go in there and rename all my bundles again...took me forever the first time

The only system icons that changed were mail and ipod.

The rest are app store bundles which don't change across iOS versions!
