Things I'm happy about: higher res screen on 15", finally getting i5/i7 processors, and I guess the pricing on higher end models

Things I'm unhappy about: everything else...

After waiting so long, I can easily say it was not worth it. I was at least hoping for an option for a decent GPU, but guess not since we're stuck with the 330M.

I am quite happy that this update made my decision to get a Sony Z11 that much easier

GT 330M is ok but GT 330 with 512 is XXXX...and apple even have 256!!??
i feel very good with my Z now

Very disappointed that Apple did not include a build-to-order option of a Quad i7. I understand that most users do not need the addition of extra cores, which is completely understandable that it did not include them at the BASE models. However, for those who do any PROFESSIONAL work on a mobile workstation they are now impeded, per se. It is disappointing. I welcome the rebuttals of those who say, "Use Mac Pro's for intensive CPU processing" -- and I do, I have clusters of 64+ CPUs. I was really hoping to be able to do more work apart from a lab/office. Looks like the technology just isn't there yet... at least for Apple.

I think the Sony Vaio Z just got a whole hell of a lot more attractive to those wanting a 13" laptop with power and yet at only 3 lb. Sony is killing Apple at the 13" laptop market. It's not about price. There are many people who want a 13" MBP with some decent specs (including dedicated graphics card) and Apple just doesn't give a damn. The worst part about today's update is Apple showed everyone it just doesn't give a damn about the Macs anymore. Apple has spent all of its time on the damn iPad/iPhone, and it just doesn't want to be bothered with OS X and the Mac. It's sad really, that Apple doesn't realize who made it the company it is today... the Mac fan base.

I do believe you have no idea what you are talking about

Not happy about

No proper i7 (720 or better) so no quad core
Low end GPU with the 330M (the GTX 285 has 128 cores vs the 48 of the 330)
No blu ray.

The Sony hardware is much better and cheaper, if you can stand the OS.

It is also not very helpful of Apple to be so unclear about exactly which i5/i7 is in there. Is the i7 the i7-620 - anyone?

Nothing really disappoints me, the I3 is not OMG better then the c2d and i dont know why people think it is. Tbh nobody really unless you video edit or graphics design needs an i5 or i7. Only thing that disappoints me is they still have a crappy hd in the 13in. They need to have a 320gb or more not no 250gb WTF is that apple?

I don't get this. Buy yourself whatever drive you want cheap at newegg or where ever, clone the one that comes in the machine, swap drives, done. Takes all of an hour.

well i shouldnt have to do that, it may be cheap but it still adds money on top of the purchase of a laptop. Apple should just make 320gb the default HD, not 250gb. Its just a small complaint but i shouldnt have to replace my hd right after i buy the laptop.
