I first heard Death in Vegas', Dead Elvis 20 years ago and I loved it immediately. I've been rediscovering it lately and it keeps getting better. It's one of the few albums I cannot tire of.

Just now, am listening to the sublime track that was played in the movie "The Shawshank Redemption". What a wonderful song - spellbinding.

We had a bit of an 80's revival whilst preparing dinner. I'd play the track and Mrs AFB had to guess the artist (not the song). She didn't fair to well.

Damn it. Karma Chameleon. I have never, nor will I apparently ever learn to remember the name of the band whose song that is. The rest were familiar, and good songs too!
You may find this hard to believe but yesterday I was going to post Hair, by the Original Broadway Cast issued around 1969, sounds as good now as it did then, however I did not post. Then today for the first time in about 40 years I heard a song from that very album emanating from a parked car.
I'd imagine that Decent Brother would get almost all of them; he had an amazing record collection in the early to mid 80s, and was mad about contemporary music.
We used to buy compilation albums like Now when we were kids. Mostly on tape or vinyl.
Both in some landfill bo doubt now.
Oh, I still sometimes buy compilation albums (as CDs); many of those groups only recorded a few good songs, and one does not really need the rest of their oeuvre.
That's one of the things I love about downloading music. You can just but the song or songs you want.
