Your posts in the music thread are written in large bolded capitals; visually, it is exceedingly unpleasant and comes across as the written equivalent of shouting. Loudly.

You might want to make your posts more pleasant to read.

Serious question here: Is there something wrong with your Macbook Air? My posts are not written in "large bolded capitals". Yes I use a 5 font but I have no idea how you are seeing capitals when I only use a capital for the first letter of a word.

mc5 - let me try
I think this explains what @Scepticalscribe is saying.

are those your fingers? or they just feel the same?

Not mine, just retweeted into my Twitter feed by someone who apparently follows the FM Classic account. But yep, those drawings would pretty much represent my feelings (and probably those of plenty of other pianists) ahead of an attempt at performing almost any Rachmaninoff. I was quite taken by the little drawings. :)

I'm not sure I've actually ever done more with Rachmaninoff than leaf through a borrowed score of his Variations on a Theme of Corelli, Op. 42. They didn't look so terrifying really, except for being quite chromatic: that can be problematic if trying to get by just sight-reading something.

Rachmaninoff was said to have found the Op.42 variations boring to play, believed audiences thought them boring also, and sometimes skipped some of them in performance. In looking through them it occurred to me to wonder if professional pianists have ever just picked off a couple to use as encore pieces. I do like quite a few.

"because it just never quits".

maybe your previous post would also be a good example of muscle memory and sustaining an exhausting tempo

Father-in-law randomly gave us all his vinyl records.

So....

Today I have been listening to this on vinyl. Now, the sound is pretty good but there is definitely some deterioration over the years.

folks ... could you please provide a link to the music you're listening to?
this thread makes no sense if it's just what you're actually listening to with nothing for folks following this thread
it's like - "I'm hearing a jet on final at the airport"
who cares?

Great album. I bought it the day it was released and still enjoy it.
