The Lynyrd Skynyrd classic Sweet Home Alabama, as featured in the equally iconic 1997 Nicolas Cage motion picture Con Air.

A classic and so many people miss understood the line about the Alabama Governor... Of course we can't forget the light underhanded lyric reference to and about Mr. Young.

Love this song.

Another classic by them...

Lynyrd Skynard - Free bird

Funny little story about this song. I was getting ready for school and my buddy came over... were listening to the radio and this song came on. Needless to say we were late for first period. One just doesn't interrupt Lynard Skynard, especially Lynard Skynard singing "Free Bird"! :)

Let's keep this going. I have seen them in concert a few times in the late 80's and early 90's with Johnny. Great shows. Wish I could have seen the original band, may they RIP.

This is a fun one....

More Dave McKenna!! He's been such an inspiration for me recently. I remember not being able to accompany vocalists (or any other musician for that matter) because of my inability to play left-hand bass unless I really concentrated - and that was like 4 years ago. I remember having to get the trombone player in the band (who also played a bit of piano) to play bass lines while I was soloing, what a pain! Now after a LOT of practice (and doing weekly gigs with just me and the other player), I can accompany almost anyone, and listening to Dave has been SO helpful in this process! He swings SO hard, and his left-hand bass is just wonderful! Look at this interview, where he talks about playing like a guitar player (pick-strum kind of thing) -

Also, I'm sure any other musician on this forum will understand this, but you can NOT expect that there will be a bass player on the gig! I did a Mardi Gras show this year where I thought the bass player was going to be - you know, playing bass, but he actually brought his guitar... so don't have 100% confidence that there will be a bass player, because there won't always be!

This is the album -
