Re-listening through this one – one of my all time favourite film soundtracks. RIP Vangelis

Terrific album.

Vangelis composed some amazing material, not just the pretty well known stuff - such as Chariots of Fire, or Conquest of Paradise, but he also composed much of the spell-binding, and unforgettable music (from the album Heaven and Hell) used in the brilliant series Cosmos: A Personal Voyage by Carl Sagan.

Finally, one thing that Tuomas also included into the song was a small chapter of the evolution of music,
a history lesson in the evolution of music on our planet.

And in a similar vein, this (which I greatly enjoyed even though I'm not really a RT fan):

I love Thompson's dryly hilarious comment about "Oops! I Did It Again" in the liner notes: Taken out of context, this is a pretty nice song. Ha!

Thank you for the reminder to actually listen to Vangelis.

The I read your post, I realised that I haven't listened to his music for far too long.

With that in mind, I am currently listening to Conquest of Paradise by Vangelis.

I gave this a good listen this week...forgot how much I liked it back in the day.

Two wonderful guitar solos by David Gilmour. Watch the full video.

Plus the late Richard Wright, who was treated horribly (but not as badly as Sid Barrett) by the rest of the band starting with The Wall, is in the thumbnail above! For anybody interested, there are some great clips on YouTube from David Gilmour solo shows with David and Richard trading licks on "Echoes" that harken back to when Pink Floyd was actually composing and playing as a band.

It's been 18 years since their last album release, and an almost equally long time since the one before that. But they're here, again, and they sound... like they've always sounded.
The chick in the back of a red convertible, riding thru LA, is cool; and the AI-generated "concert" clips of the band, from most of their previous millenia (save their current fossilized state) is even cooler.
