am I the only person who, since 1976 did not purchase an annual musical recording released this 2023?
That Trevor Horn or Yes recordings seem welcoming, but......

so actually this post should be in a "What RU NOT listening too." thread.
Trevor Rabin has a new one out...pretty good imho...

Also this one...

I have about 2,300 CDs, maybe an 8'-long stacking of vinyl, but I too have really curtailed my music purchases in the last few years. This year, that I can think of:
- Prince's first "posthumous" release. It's.... okay, but if those were the best songs in his 90% recorded material he never released, well, there may have been a reason.
- the new Louis Cole release; and extremely unique and gifted musician!
- I will be buying the new Peter Gabriel CD when/if it ever comes out (many of the songs already on EweTube)

SiriusXM siriusly pi**ed me off, so they're gone; I may be trying Apple Music one of these days.

I did not know that... Did he actual play with them? I remember him as being part of Emerson, Lake, & Palmer... :)
Robert Barry played with Emerson and Palmer in 1987 with the "3"
Trevor Rabin was in 90125, Big Generator, Union, Talk with Yes but never recorded with ELP.
Peter Gabriel should be a great recording, I hav not heard any songs yet, since im holding out for the entire CD/album.

@rm5: If you like the music of Yann Tiersen, - and you do (as I do) - I expect that you will also like the music of Abel Korzeniowski; his soundtrack to "Penny Dreadful: Seasons 2 & 3" is superb, and I recommend that you take the time to listen to it, as I think that you will enjoy it.

A couple of days ago, I saw a story about how Feargal Sharkey is an anti-sewage activist now. That (Feargal, not sewage!) got me thinking about John Peel, which led me to...

and then to one of my all-time favorite albums...

Oh, wow.

Thanks for the link and the reminder.

Fergal Sharkey & The Undertones: I really liked some of their tracks - and absolutely loved "It's Going To Happen!"

As someone mentioned the Trevor Rabin years, this is one of my favorite YES songs of any era....

YES, Holy Lamb
I never listen to that cd of TALK (1994) until several years ago.
that is very good as well.

there is a subtile, slowish and nice song "where will be" which Alan White does a fantastic performance on different percussion pieces.
two years ago I tweeted how he was special on that song and his talents were good, etc!
he thanked me!
then
I was told by other tweeters of other BETTER song he played on like gate of delirium, and i should listen to those intend. I thanked these tweets heads and said I knew these songs which provoked more negativity.
Even explaining how special that song was because he did not "buddy rich" the tune.
well, that only angered these Yes "fans" they would post clips of shows I saw live proving their point.
I eventually had to unfollow him and probably the band itself.

seems to me I should have closed my tweets account then instead on this September.

I might get Trevors alums anyways tho he sounds metallic.

oh im listen to this morning:

He was in Yes from 1982 - 1995... He was the primary writer of their hit, Owner of a Lonely Heart.

#1 on the Billboard hot 100.

No kidding! I did not know that! And yup, that is the song I remember from them. That song was always being played on MTV when it came out. Back when MTV played music videos. I want to say that is the only YES album I have from them and it is because of that song!

You've heard this one though...? Right?
some Drama songs received a lot of air play in 1979-1980.
they would also play the entire "close to the edge" song back in the early 70's on FM radio.
David Letterman loved that "The Calling" song from Talk
he would crank that and sped into Manhattan several times!

they were a great fun band that had a lot of success and fans ever tour, even in 2014!
