This guy fell off my radar. He collaborated with Madonna on her Ray of Light album; say what you will about Madonna, that was a killer album. And now thanks to streaming, I'm getting caught up with Mr. Orbit.

Certainly looks like Im not the only bassist here LOL - Here's some of my favs. Of course we can start with some Vic :)

and Marcus of course :)

STUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!!! :)

and we cannot forget Rocco :)

and the man, the legend: James Jamerson. 👑

and because JJ needs more than just one video, he was that amazing and intuitive. I wish he was still alive to thank him for all the great bass and music he laid down for countless billions of people to enjoy of the years. He was the heartbeat of the snake pit and that Motown sound.

Yep, Carol Kaye was prolific with the wrecking crew as was Bob Babbit with the FunkBrothers. It's unfortunate her credited work is disputed because it diminishes their collective contributions of the eras music. I dont get it but egos and memory being what they are, it happens I suppose. just realized I made no mention of Jaco Pastorius as well. All formative and pioneering session players of their times.

Jaco being weird ;)

and some Bob

:D

Big thumbs-up on Rocco, Victor and Jamerson (unfamiliar with Stu Hamm, and will definitely take a pass on MM).
You left out my favorite, Mark King of Level 42. Killer player who also sang lead while playing, not something I could do.

EDIT: Holy crap, can't believe I forgot Tony Levin!

And one more. This is KC's first appearance on Fridays, the first time I ever heard the band. My jaw hit the floor, and I bought Discipline the next morning. Life-changing album for me.

And now for something completely different.

I don't know how this kid does it, but Jacob Collier just performed a live version of his remake of "Bridge over Troubled Water", with Tori Kelly and John Legend, and it KILLS.
