I haven’t listened to that recently, so doubt I’ve posted it, but it is AMAZING! One of my favorite records of all time. And yes, the story behind it is really something!Okay, I could have sworn one of you posted this here recently ...
First listen for me and it's AMAZING!
The story behind the making of the actual recording is amazing as well!

Been listening to the second movement of this all day. It’s chilling. I love it though. Jessye Norman is quite something! Perfect voice for this.Richard Strauss - Four Last Songs. Something about them gives an eerie character. Maybe it’s because those were his four last compositions before he passed. I love them though—the second movement is both sparkling and absolutely chilling and ominous at the same time.
"1001 Albums You Must Hear before You Die"
That's quite a spread, right out of the gate!So I joined, "1001 Albums You Must Hear before You Die" yesterday.
The first LP, which I shared on here, was by Keith Jarrett - The Köln Concert
The second was by The Pixies -Surfer Rosa
At first I thought you meant this...

...but when I saw in my copy that Moon recommends Doolittle, not Surfer Rosa, I searched and found (cue Nigel Tufnel) yours goes to 1,001.

BTW if you like these sorts of books, I strongly recommend This is Uncool and Fear of Music by Garry Mulholland, both for the musical selections and for Mulholland's writing. He has very good taste—well, of course I would say that because I agree with him most of the time, ha ha—and, unlike a lot of rock music writers, has a highly personal and emotional style that steers clear of fanboi/fangrrrl-ism.
EweTube just served up this from one of my favorite rock bands, Heart. Its a performance on "Midnight Special", which normally featured popular band miming to their own records, but I'm pretty sure this one is completely live. Crack band (in more ways than one), outstanding vocalists, and three talented guitarists who knew how to play as a band, and not step all over each other (as, say, LS (I won't spell that out just yet)). Enjoy!
