EVERYTIME i need a refill on beer, I always ask the bartender
What is Pete Townsend's first album titled/called?

the joke is getting hard for those to understand nowadays compared to the late 1980s

great album which I played full last last week while singing along.
the flip side is epic!

Didn't Who Came First and Rough Mix come out before Empty Glass? And maybe some Meher Baba stuff.
I was making a joke - Yes.

But your joke was:
"EVERYTIME i need a refill on beer, I always ask the bartender

And I'm assuming you're looking for Empty Glass as an answer... which technically would be his 3rd solo LP... "solo" as in without The Who... right?

Either way, my bad.

I think you meant to reply to @MBAir2010, no? I was just commenting relying on my—possibly wrong—memory of Pete's solo releases. Plus I don't like to play Stump The Bartender...I want my drinks properly made without any "additions"!

I love Fauré's Requiem. It really is one of the most beautiful choral works I know.

Also recommend Duruflé's Requiem, which was inspired by it.
Yes, Durufle's Requiem is great, too. Much more orchestrated, which is a departure from Faure's comparatively sparse, soft arrangement. That's one I need to find on CD, I don't have it.

Speaking of choral-orchestral works, this one I sang last spring. It was a lot of fun but also very challenging. Unfortunately, this recording does not have the third movement, which was my favorite.

(I dug up my copy of this after hearing an interview with the band's first singer on the BBC World Service recently. Best suited for fans of the 4AD sound and mellower trip hop.)

(Lots of flashy soloing and hot jamming, all recorded live, by jazz legends)

(Yep, a performance really is 5 hours long!)

I haven’t seen nor heard anything from Jacob Collier lately, this was a refreshing and tasty video:

Face to Face, an album focusing on the loose common theme of social observation, is often regarded by critics as one of rock's first concept albums. Their first album consisting entirely of songs composed by members of the Kinks. "Sunny Afternoon" was the big hit. Apparently Ray Davies had suffered a nervous breakdown before recording began. Another all time fave of mine by The Kinks.

Never been a huge fan of Jacob Collier. I think his music is interesting at its core, but there's something about it that just doesn't fit my taste.

I played with a pianist in an ensemble years ago who was VERY into "Collerian" theory/Jacob Collier's concepts, but even though he explained it in a straightforward way, I just never felt I really "got" it.

For me he's definitely a "one-track-at-a-time" artist, I have just one of his albums and it is so all-over-the-map it's hard to listen to in one sitting.
His take, with three guest vocalists, on "Bridge over troubled water" still floors me (if not for taste, at least for craft):
