Just bought it.......

Underworld Barking just dropped on my doormat. :D Rather immediate by Underworld standards, with the gloriously electropop quartet of Grace/Between Stars/Diamond Jigsaw/Moon In Water, disappointed in the album version of Scribble to be honest, it lacks the soaring intro and urgency of the radio edit... :(

I love all of these. The very first of Paul Oakenfold's Tranceport mix compilations has the majority of these tracks in one smooth, dreamy mix. I consider the tracks on this list and its contemporaries ("Forbidden Fruit", BT's "IMA" album, etc.) as the Golden Age Of Trance.

Anyway, back to the thread...

Now Playing: VNV Nation - Beloved, from Futureperfect
Before That: Kraftwerk - Computer World 2, from Computer World
And just before that: Mannheim Steamroller - Escape From The Atmosphere, from Fresh Aire 5

I just downloaded Paul van Dyk's Forbidden Fruit in iTunes. :) Any suggestions for other great music from the Golden Age of trance music?

Lots of Dream Theater lately. Right now, it's Images and Words. Wow, what a great album. I also now realize my DT collection is short, so I will be dropping some cash to fix that shortly.

Agreed. Such an awesome album. Listen to the album Scenes of Memory. It's like a sequel to Metropolis Pt.1 with a great story. It's an awesome concept album.

I'm listening to top ten english songs as follow:
1.Viva forever
2. Power of Love
3. Hotel Califonia
4. No woman no cry
5. Nothing gonna change my love for you
6. Baby one more time
7. Careless whisper
8. Lemon tree
9. Unbreak my heart
10. I swear

Powerslave - Iron Maiden - This is one of the best Metal Album's i've ever heard in my life.
The Sentinel - Judas Priest
Shine Blockas - Big Boi and Gucci Mane
Evil Women - Mike Posner

As I stated earlier, BT's entire Ima album is top notch, riding the line between progressive house and trance. It doesn't have hardly any of the glitchy, stuttered breakbeats of his later work.

I discovered a couple of interesting independent trance artists in the grand ole days of mp3.com. One is Raymond Wave, from Finland; I heartily recommend Dream Of June, Magic Words and Above The Rainbow, all available in the Archive list of the Downloads section among dozens of tunes to try for free (!!!)(PayPal donations are accepted, should you be inclined). The other is Guardians Of The Earth, with the excellent epic trance track Starchildren, available at many smaller dance-music websites and in a very abbreviated form on Paul Van Dyk's "Politics Of Dancing" mix compilation.

Speaking of Politics of Dancing, it contains another heavenly track, Mirco de Govia's Epic Monolith.

A quick look through my nano's playlists reminded me of a few more trance classics:
Robert Miles Children: more dream/piano house than trance, but still very nice
Luminaire Flower Duet: trance opera
Albion Air
Airscape L'Esperanza
Marc et Claude La (Moonman's Flashover Mix): Moonman is one of Ferry Corsten/System F's many pseudonyms
Safri Duo Played-A-Live (The Bongo Song)
Paul Van Dyk Buenaventura (from his Reflections CD; if you like Forbidden Fruit, you'll like this one too)
Dario G Sunchyme (samples Dream Academy's 80s hit Life In A Northern Town, and was used in the Acuvue advertisement in the US)
And finally, a rare one, but worth it if you can find it:
Photon Project Enlightenment
