Fawlty towers, because it was and has always been the best british comedy series ever.

I never really got into it.

My favorite older British shows are

"Are you being served"
"Keeping up appearances"
"Doctor Who" (series starting in 1963)
"Blake's 7" (check it out if you haven't heard of it)

Lost in Space - so bad, it was good

Men into Space - a short-lived sci-fi series from the late 50s

UFO - a British sci-fi series
 
The oldest shows I remember were Howdy Doody and Captain Kangaroo, watching them on an old Philco with something like a 10 inch screen.
