Adobe CC
Safari
Mail
AirDrop

Not sure if you qualify AirDrop as an application, but I use it a lot! Allows me to easily share Photoshop images between devices, without having to email or iMessage.

That's all for me (currently.) I spend most of my computer time in Adobe's apps. I would have MS Office up there, but I'm using it on my Windows PC, while I wait for the new Mac version. I'm thinking of getting iStat Menus 5, because it shows so much more than Activity Monitor... What do you guys think, is it worth it?

do the majority of y'all have 15" or are you doing all this on 13"s?

I assume you meant " (inches) instead of ' (feet). Would love a 13 foot rMBP, but personally, I think a 15 foot rMBP would be a travel nightmare.

Mine is a 15" original rMBP.

you are absolutely right. lol

I just purchased a 15 and have always had a 13. What are some apps that i need to take advantage of with this beast?

flux (worth checking out, better screen lighting for night)
crashplan
smashtunes
spotifree (mutes the ads)
boom 2 (great for macbooks)
carbon copy cloner (i prefer 'mirroring' to TM's backup process)
mailunreadmenu (menu notification for new email)
loading (menu notification of what's connected online)
plaster (great app to make icons out of images)

this is a list of the other stuff (not my work apps) :D

Wow, Boom 2 is really cool! I'm usually skeptical of equalizer apps like that, but I think Boom 2 is now on my list of must haves. Huge difference on my 15" MBPr

must have / most used apps

1. Trim Enabler
2. Caffeine
3. Adobe CS6
4. VLC
5. TorBrowser
6. Textual 5
7. AppZapper
8. Office 2011
9. Viscosity
10. Cinch

In no particular order:

Transmission (best mac torrent client by far)
Logic Pro X
Air Video Server (Stream videos from Mac to iOS, can also encode videos with intel's Quick Sync)
iWork
AirServer (Makes your Mac into a AirPlay server so you can stream onto it just like Apple TV)
MplayerX(NOT the mac app store version as that one is gimped) and MPV (video playback)
RowMote helper (Control playback with your iPhone or iPad)
Dimmer than dim (enables lower brightness then default)
Coconut Battery ( For tracking battery health )
DropBox
MacID (use TouchID from iPhone or iPad to lock and unlock your Mac)
iMovie
Komplete 8 (series of instruments and effects for Logic)

Thats it for me:)

Pls write a one liner description to your APPS !

Just a request to everyone here, when you guys mention the APPs that you use, can you also write a one liner a 2-3 words description on what it does, will be easier for people following this thread to know before hand on what that particular app does instead of downloading or going through each and every APP being posted here.

Thanks in Advance !

Flux
My personal must have. It makes sitting in front of the Mac at night much more pleasant and easy on the eyes. It shifts the "color temperature" into much warmer (orange) levels making it feel less stressing on the eyes even at high brightness levels.
Do remember to turn it off if you're doing color sensitive tasks though, otherwise you might end up ordering a jacket from eBay only to say "what the hell is this!?" when it arrives :p

Crossover
Makes playing Windows games through Wine a little easier.
It is a little too costly though, so I understand why you might want to learn to use Wine for free instead.

Beamer
Makes it super easy to stream videofiles to your AppleTV.
Drag and drop, enjoy.
Could not live without it.

Evernote
Use it a lot for work, nice to have important documents at arms length at all times. Other than that I "curate" articles I find online for later reading and recipes and such.

Trackpad ++
Windows!
I can't use the trackpad while in Windows without this.
It doesn't solve all problems but it makes the suffering bearable.

That's all I can think of at the moment.

iOS Developer so:

1) Xcode
2) Sublime Text
3) Tower
4) Tweetbot
5) Flamingo
6) Office 2016 beta
7) Parallels
8) BarTender
9) iStat Menus
10) 1Password

If you can afford it, upgrading to Adobe CC is really worth it, especially the 2014-2015 updates. The performance increases really are quite good, and some of the new features are too

For me:

MS Office
Dropbox
Google Chrome (for school website)
Pixelmator
Moom
Better Touch Tool
Dragon Drop
iStat Menus
Scrivener
Reeder
Lightroom
