Are you trying to tell us your mark-up is more generous to the consumer?

I'd love to hear an answer to this question, benhollberg. What is your profit in terms of percentage? I'll bet it is a hell of a lot higher than Best Buy's 3% which you are totally slamming.

No scalper could live on three-percent unless they moved as much product as Best Buy.

Ok, so what is it then? I'll be very surprised if you actually answer this question. It'll be hard to twist the fact that you are charging someone 30% more for something and they should be thankful for your "service."

Ok, so what is it then?

Too hard to explain here, or just too much. The higher the demand the more. For concerts, sports, and theatre the better the seats the higher as well. One rule, it is a lot easier to sell cheap seats, like nose bleeds to sporting events, but you can make a lot more by getting real good seats, you just have to make sure you can sell.

Ok, lets keep it simple. On your website, I found the attached seats for the Tim McGraw concert. You are asking $109 for them. What is the face value of those seats?

There's no way, then their suppliers are screwing them because I can find almost everything at Best Buy three-percent cheaper somewhere else.

You do realize that there are other costs associated with running a retail business other than the price of the item itself right? In fact, for most retailers maintaining adequate stock levels, inventory management, and insurance represent the biggest bites out of their bottom line, all things you don't have to bother with because you're operating in the grey (and I bet sometimes black) market.

Even a business like Amazon, which generally has competitive prices on most things, has a very thin profit margin after all of their costs are factored in (in fact Amazon, like Best Buy also has an average profitability between 3-4%).

Believe it or not, we all get the fundamental aspects of what you do. Some of us just have better ethical standards.

The link doesn't work. Just answer my question rather than sending me someplace else.

$75.50 - GA PIT & Reserved

As you can see I have way better prices than local competition. Competitor: http://www.actionticketsutah.com/ResultsTicket.aspx?evtid=1543606&event=Tim+McGraw

OK...see you could have given this type of example in the beginning and saved a lot of headache.

4 tickets from the internet sales site = $356. Your price for 4 tickets, assuming there are no other fees is $436. This is $80 more, or 22.5%. While not a great price, it's certainly not super-sleazy.

This competition: $900 (based on the similar section at $225). A whopping 165% markup. THAT is the kind of crap we are talking about. Plus, this wonderful service has about 300 tickets...tickets that are no available now for general sale, but held by one off these losers.

Agreed. It seems like that there is a huge percentage of tickets that the regular buyer has no chance of getting because scalpers move in and provide us with a "service" at a mere 23% surcharge.

Ok, so you make 23% on this set of tickets, but yet you piss and moan about Best Buy's 3%. And people should be thanking you for the "great service" that you provide and the "I'm not as bad as them" attitude?

I'll admit, I'll raise my prices with what inventory I still have as the event nears, just like all events. The other people just want to wait until the event is near and get the most out of them. I don't like to hold onto inventory because I would rather have a quick return on my investments. But I don't see going over $200 at all, or not getting that close even the day of the event.

I wasn't complaining about Best Buy, just giving an example of a retailer. All I said was their prices are almost always higher than you can find at other places, like I said I never buy anything there unless I price match it.

hmmmm....is this just a spam thread? hoping to drum up some customers are you? :p

Absolutely not, that like really was my competition and you can see my tickets in the signature like always. Even so I only buy tickets to local events in Utah, actually I did do some out of state stuff but it wasn't worth it. You make lots of money but huge fees from StubHub plus having to ship just wasn't worth it.
